Part of the problem was that I forgot abut having to press tab before typing in the cheat code. But another thing I was doing wrong is being too quick to try to log in. The ssh daemon doesn't start until about 5 seconds after the tone. Even after I was entering the cheat code correctly, I ran both an ssh command and an nmap before the daemon started. I actually verified this... I can type 'ssh hostname', listen to it say "connection refused", and run nmap all in the time between the tone and when the daemon starts. Welll, I'm currently testing on an old Dell 280. So that might be part of the problem too.

boot option "lang"

Hi. With the grml64_2011.12-rc1, I entered lang=fr-iso at boot propt. But the kbd_mode command told me that I was in utf8. I verified in /proc/cmdline that my option was correct and it was the case. Beside this, I continue to think that a beep at the moment of the boot prompt and the possibility to have a boot option invoking brltty is the more accessible for blind people. serial console with grml_2011.12-rc1

I can't get a serial console with grml_2011.12-rc1. I think (can't be sure because I'm blind) I am typing this: grml serial console=ttyS0,19200n8 If I boot my machine into linux off the hard drive, I get my serial console. So I know there is nothing wrong with my null modem cable or my terminal emulator. But with grml, I do not get a prompt of any type. From the terminal side, it looks like there's no getty on the other side.

Accessibility in the grml 2011.12

Hi all. I had a look to the Release Notes for Grml 2011.12-rc1 and something seems very unclear to me : * The accessibility support now consists of shipping standard speakup and enabling sound during boot. A new beep sequence (4 tones) is sounded just before the quickconfig menu starts. (The boot options have been removed.) When I hear the 4 tones, is it time to invoke brltty ? I don't really understand the meaning of Â«Â the boot options have been removedÂ». And when shall I choose lang=fr ? Thanks for explanations. -- Ph. Delavalade

Boot options

HI all. I'm new on this list and new to GRML. Being blind and french, I have to enter the following when booting on the CD : grml blind brltty=pm,usb:,fr@FR lang=fr-iso It is difficult because I don't know exactly when it is boot prompt and I have to do this with a qwerty keyboard instaid of my usual azerty. Mistakes are frequent :-( So, I would like to know if it's possible to avoid the step of boot options. I guess it's possible to remaster the iso but maybe there is something more simple and handy. If it's the only way to remaster, where can I find informations to do thisÂ ? Long time ago, I did that with the linuxfromscratch livecd but every step was explained... spawning problem

hi, sorry. sent the message maybe not to the list. to my previous message. I execute grml 2011.05 that way because i am blind: grml brltty=ht,,de lang=at fb=false i have to disable the framebuffer because i heard brltty has issues when this is on. then i always get messages from init that id 12 is spawning too fast. i also get that with grml 2010.12. greetings, simon -- Simon Eigeldinger simon.eigeldinger(a)vol.at

Hello, I use grml now a few years now and just figured out with a computer i get that message. tested this with grml 2010.12 and 2011.05: init: Id "12" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes. What is causing that problem? greetings, simon
