Loading a kernel module at boot?

Is there a way to create a GRML iso that automatically loads a kernel module at boot time? If i could create a iso file that loads a speakup screen reader module for my hardware speech synthesizer, I could get access to boot messages. According to the GRML documentation, you ought to be able to pass kernel parms with the -b flag. But I haven't been able to get it to work. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong in GRML or if I'm giving the kernel the wrong parms. I've tried variations like this: grml2iso -b speakup_ltlk -o grml-ltlk.iso grml-small_2024_10.iso grml2iso -b speakup_ltlk.start=1 -o grml-ltlk.iso grml-small_2024_10.iso There shouldn't be anything special about the speakup kernel modules. So if someone knows how to load a kernel module via the kernel command li,me that ought to be the info I need.

Error running grml2usb

I am trying to use grml2usb to create a bootable thumb drive. I'm running debian trixie. I formated a 32Gb thumb drive with a single, primary FAT32 partition. Then I ran this command with the results shown: # grml2usb grml-full-2024.12-amd64.iso /dev/sdb1 Executing grml2usb version 0.20.3 Fatal: expected str, bytes or os.PathLike object, not list I believe that error message is a python error message, not something from grml2usb.

I have recently subscribed to this list for several reasons: I need to run fsck on a computer that has issues, I need to unmount active partition, so I need to run it from a CD, however I changed boot order and computer will not boot from netinst, but it will boot from a very old GRML cd. Now, I downloaded latest version and will burn a CD with K3b, but I also would need to download to USB stick. Here come the questions: should I format this CD to exfat prior to using command posted in website? In which directory should I position the terminal? Download directory? INstructions on downloading .iso

Hello list, This is my first post. I am afraid that I will not be able to contribute for some time. I will have to be a help recipient. Here is the problem: I need to run fsck on a computer and I need a shell in CD or USB thumb drive. I have CD with Debian netinst but my computer does not boot from them (boot order set to optical disk first). But an old version of GRML boots fine. I would like to burn a CD with the newest version, but unable to do so because of the security built into the browser. I don't know how to use the PGP key, please help. -- *Carlos Kosloff*

GRML Ram Usage

Hi, I'm trying to change the ram grml uses. Currently, about 50% is used. ramdisk-size=2G seems to do nothing. overlay-size=2G works, but doesn't affect /dev, /dev/shm, and /tmp. I remounted the above at 2G, but 'free -g' still reports the same free ram. Any ideas on how to accomplish setting grml to 2G with about 26G free? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First Release Candidate of Grml version 2024.02 available

Hi, our first release candidate of the upcoming Grml version 2024.02, code-named 'Glumpad' is available. This Grml release provides fresh software packages from Debian trixie. As usual it also incorporates current hardware support and fixes known bugs from the previous Grml release.
