The bootfrom=xxx.iso doesn't work

Package: grml Version: 0.9-stable2 Severity: important Hi, I found that the bootfrom=xxx.iso cheatcode does not work as expected. I notice the following grub boot menu, title GRML 0.9 from .ISO on sda2 root (hd0,2) kernel /boot.grml/isolinux/linux26 welcome noeject noprompt ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 nomce bootfrom=/dev/sda2/Grml/grml_0.9.iso initrd /boot.grml/isolinux/minirt26.gz savedefault boot only works as long as my USB key was plugged in. If not, it won't work. Having Looked into the issue, I realized that, grml search for grml image in all patitions first before doing the bootfrom= cheatcode. When my USB key is plugged in, it can continue on, mounting the .iso as root the second time, though it report missing /lib/.../modeprobe.dep beforehand. When my USB key is not plugged in, i.e., the image scan doesn't find anything, grml will panic before doing the bootfrom=xxx.iso. Test environment: grml 0.9 -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /UNIONFS/bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-grml Locale: LANG=en_US.iso885915, LC_CTYPE=en_US.iso885915 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages grml depends on: ii grml-autoconfig 0.6-8 main bootup process of a grml syst ii grml-docs 0.9-5 documentation for grml (grml.org) ii grml-etc 0.9-4 ecetera files for the grml system ii grml-files 0.9-1 some misc files for grml ii grml-hwinfo 0.3-2 collect hardware information ii grml-scripts 0.9.5 some small scripts which should ma ii grml-tips 0.3-14 search for tips and hints via a ke grml recommends no packages. -- no debconf information __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The misbehaving emacs spell check language setting

Package: emacs Version: 21.4a+1-2 Severity: important I boot grml with 'lang=us', and I get the following as my locale: LANG=en_US.iso885915, LC_CTYPE=en_US.iso885915 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Yet, when I enable flyspell-mode, I get: Loading flyspell...done (Next local Ispell command will use german-new8 dictionary) [2 times] I.e., the spell check language is german, instead of en_US. config.d & scripts.d cheatcodes

Hi mika, I'm going to implement the config.d & scripts.d functionality in /cdrom/scripts/grml.sh for now. I'm thinking, to make it easy for you to adopt my code into future grml, please write a skeloton code for me, especially, how you'd like to name variable and functions. I'll implement the details, test them, and sent them back to you. PS. The doc is not clear where exactly should the script be put, is it under /scripts/ or /cdrom/scripts/ on the disk (CD/USB)? The fromhd cheatcode does not work for NTFS partitions

Both /dev/sda2 & /dev/sda8 have identical /GRML root directory. The only difference is that my sda2 is NTFS and sda8 is FAT. Boot grml iso using grml-small

The problem may related to this (unable to load modules). Thy symptom is that the ifconfig -a only shows lo device, not eth0. If I specified 'ifup eth0', the respond was no such device or similar. Duplicated the result each time when tested. Booting grml-small or grml directly won't have such problem. eth0 works fine. NTOP not working -- segfault

OK, just want to let you know: the current grml setting (0.9) + related libraries draw a bogus ntop version. when you try to run it, you receive a segfault :-( OK, that was my approach for a fast and easy network monitoring ..... anyone an idea on how I can fix pretty fast this "bogus" ntop version and get back a working one? regards peb

Hi, I'm trying to setup grml to accept my remote ssh login. No problem with that, but I'm facing a configuration problem: How to allow the sshd to verify ssh1 signature before verifying ssh2's, just like what sourceforge.net is doing?
