**H-I-T** Lecture Annette Krauss / Donnerstagsdemo / KAMA Café

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
liebe Freund*innen von < rotor >!

Diese Woche dürfen wir Sie auf drei Termine aufmerksam machen:

*) Am Mittwoch hält die Künstlerin *Annette Krauss*einen Vortrag,
darin geht es um den „*Zwarte Piet*“ (Black Pete – Schwarzer Peter),
ein niederländisches Pendant zur Krampusfigur mit problematischen
rassistischen Bezügen.

*) Am Donnerstag findet in Graz die erste *Donnerstagsdemo*statt.
Um *17:00 Uhr*formiert sich am *Lendplatz*ein Demozug durch die Stadt.
Die Donnerstage werden schon in Wien, Klagenfurt, Linz und Innsbruck
abgehalten. Es sind Manifestationen für eine weltoffene Gesellschaft,
ein solidarische Miteinander und gegen Ausgrenzungen und
Menschenfeindlichkeit. Getragen werden die Donnerstage von
Bürgerinnen und Bürgern, es handelt sich um eine überparteiliche
Initiative der Zivilgesellschaft.Wir sehen uns dort!?

*) Schließlich findet am Freitag von 15:00 bis 18:00 ein weiteres
*KAMA Café*im < rotor > statt. Unter dem laufenden Motto
„Powered by Women“ wird es diesmal *Kaffee auf äthiopische Art*
zu trinken geben, wozu traditionell Popcorn serviert wird.

Annette Krauss will talk about her research into unlearning in relation
to the Anti-Zwarte Piet project 'Read the Masks. Tradition is Not Given'
(in collaboration with Petra Bauer) that blurs the boundaries between
art, activism, institutions and real life to think about how speech
and gesture might wage political and institutional power.

Petra Bauer and Annette Krauss worked with local activist groups
including Doorbraak and Untold, aiming to generate a space
in which to debate the problematic facets of this tradition.

The phenomenon and the subsequent debates circulate around
the issues of national identity, racism, the ownership of culture
and the right to speak.

Annette Krauss works as an artist, writer and educator. In her 
conceptual-based
practice she addresses the intersection of art, politics and everyday life.
Her work revolves around informal knowledge and normalization processes
that shape our bodies, the way we use objects, engage in social 
practices and
how these influence the way we know and act in the world.
Her artistic work emerges through the intersection of different media, 
such as
performance, video, historical and everyday research, pedagogy and texts.

The lecture will be held in English.
