 Tripes
Jean-Brice Godet – Clars / Julien Chamla – Dms / Marco Quaresimin
– Ctb

Tripes is a trio.
 Tripes is a JazzSuicide trio.
Tripes is a trio working on provoking trans by boredom, using very
long forms with a minimalistic material.
 Tripes is a trio
who creates endless tunnels of patterns that all
look like the same but are modifying by themselves imperceptibly.
 Tripes is a trio…

Jean-Brice Godet starts to studie clarinet at 8 years old. When he was
17, he discovers Albert Ayler, Sonic Youth, Ligeti, Duke Ellington at
the same time, and take the way of free improvisation. In 2004 he gets
a master in computer music research (Pierre and Marie Curie University
/ IRCAM). After decisive meetings (Joeëlle Léandre, Fred Frith…),
he enters diferents bands (Fröhn, P.Cueco, Mujô, A.Braxton…)
with which he plays in Paris, Berlin, New York… he wrote two
movie-concerts : Le Rat by Christophe Ali and Nicolas Bonilauri, and
Berlin, die sinfonie der grosstatd (Walter Ruttmann, 1927), commission
from SACEM and the the city of Gennevilliers. He plays curently in the
clarinet quartet Watt, and the Joëlle Léandre’s tentet.

Julien Chamla est diplômé de l’American School of Modern Music en
2008, où il a appris l’écriture
contemporaine, la direction
d’orchestre et l’improvisation à travers le répertoire « jazz
». Il joue et compose au sein du quartet de jazz contemporain WE ARE
ALL AMERICANS aux côtés entres autres du guitariste Danois Hasse
Poulsen.

Marco Quaresimin. He moved from Italy to Paris in 2011 after being
very active in the italian scene as professional doublebass and bass
player, arranger and performer, for about ten years. In France he has
started an intense activity as improviser with is solo project
and
with many musicians of tha parisian’s scene (the syrian singer Noma
Omran, the COAX collective). He has worked with Tristan Honsinger,
Joëlle Léandre, Mats Gustafsson, Roberto Dani, Giancarlo Schiaffini,
and played in France, Germany, Italy and Belguim in differents clubs,
cultural centers and festivals. He has recorded with the bassist
Danilo Gallo and the saxophone player Piero Bittolo Bon, from the
collective “El gallo rojo” and with the french free jazz quintet
Healing Unit («Music to run and shout» Futura / Marge 2013). In 2012
he has publied the album « Apathic avant-jazz anthems» with his
italian band A.I.R.E., for wich he composes (El Gallo Rojo records,
JAZZIT Awards 2013 Best 100 albums).

 Diatribes

d’incise & Cyril Bondi
Melodica & bass melodica, louspeakers, objects, electronic,
microphones

Great stone/Blood dunza LP release tour:

In the 70’s, a few adventurous jamaican sound engineers developed
a
revolutionary approach to the deconstruction of their mixes with a
very playful use of,
at that time, new technological effects, the dub, that would become a
major influence on every beat based dance music.

Amongst them, Osbourne Ruddock aka King Tubby added his unique touch
to hundred of productions, recognizable by his trademark colors,
spring reverbs, filters and tape delays.
Already in “Augustus” the diatribes duo tried to invoke some of
these dub characters, the presence of heavy subs, the melodicas,
repetitive percussive elements,
but those ended-up buried in a post-improv attitude and form.

On this latest record, the attempt continues with the deconstruction
of two classical roots reggae tunes from the 70’s that passed by the
dub master King Tubby’s genius’ hands.
Obviously once again the sources are extented to an electroacoustic
approach. The bass lines and melodic themes are stretched, the
“effects” themselves treated as sound material.

“Great
Stone” focuses more on the melodic aspects, with an
echo/delay/tape ghost reference as d’incise and Cyril Bondi overdub
the piece on its previous rehearsal recordings,
while basses evoke the trembling walls at sound system parties.

“Blood dunza” is perhaps more “dub”, the subtraction of
“tracks” leads to silences, the basses act as a central pillar.
Spring reverbs/noises, “chords” and even rhythm fragments appear
and disappear.

As far as these two Diatribes pieces are from their supposed sources,
the working process behind them, the circulation between conceptual or
sometimes metaphorical elements, allows things to happen that in an
other context would perhaps not have been dared.

Diatribes, a Geneva based duo, continues his exploration of
simplification and rational rituality, and presents a couple of new
pieces tighted together by strict sonic or structural principles.
Highly detailed textures, repeated gestures, soft tones, febrile
pulses and acoustic
hyper-sensibility.
The duo, two improvisors working as complementarity since 2004, after
a voracious youth exploring free jazz, noise, musique concrête and
free improv, and many collaborations with international musicians such
as Magda Mayas, Bertrand Gauguet, Robin Hayward, Dominic Lash, Partick
Farmer, Derek Shirley and Hannah Marshall, Barry Guy, Keith Rowe,
amongst others, has chosen to focus on a rather introverted process of
creation. During the past year they have intensely toured across
Europe and beyond.
Cyril Bondi and d’incise are both very active in the Swiss
experimental scene, leading the Insub Meta Orchestra, a very large
ensemble, and created in the INSUB. label, netlabel & association
(since 2006, as Insubordinations). Their unstoppable energy led them
to build a strong network around these activities. They have other
bands together, including Queixas (with Abdul Moimême) and a subbass
quartet (with Derek Shirley and Dragos Tara), and other
occasional
collaborations.
Cyril plays solo and with the post-jazz trio Plaistow and d’incise
plays solo, works on electro-acoustic set-ups and compositions, and
does graphic designs.
