Schwerpunkt der Präsentation werden kulturelle/künstlerische Praktiken der Alternativszene in Laibach der 1980er-Jahre sein: ein Konglomerat an künstlerischen und kulturellen Akteuren und neuen sozialen wie theoretischen Bewegungen (Friedens-, Ökologie-, Feminismus-, Schwulen- und Lesbenbewegung, Neue Linke, Poststrukturalismus und Lacanismus), die schlussendlich eine bürgerliche Gesellschaft begründen. Gleichzeitig stellen Video- und Multimedia-Praktiken und ihre (medialen) Effekte konstitutive Elemente dar. Die Škuc Gallery als wichtiger Protagonist dieser Szene hat einen erweiterten Begriff von bildender Kunst eingeführt, den Begriff der „expanded visual arts“ und war auch der Ort, an dem Raša Todosijević 1981 seine Arbeit/Poster „Was ist Kunst (Marinela Koželj)“ gezeigt hat und der starken Einfluss auf slowenische Künstler und deren künstlerische Praktiken hatte.

Gezeigt wird eine Collage an Darstellungen sozialistischer Siege und Begräbnisse, melodramatischer Filme und Familien-Fernsehsendungen, begleitet vom Gesang des populären jugoslawischen Sängers, Tereza Kesovija.

Neven Korda / Borghesia: Discipline (The Triumph of Desire)

Das Video bezieht sich durch die Gegenüberstellung von Bildern des öffentlichen Raums wie des Privaten und der Musik der Gruppe „Borgesia“ auf die politische Situation Jugoslawiens der letzten Jahren.

Das Video zeigt eine ambivalente Dekonstruktion von Fantasien über das gelobte Land und den Glauben an die Kunst.

The presentation will focus on the cultural/artistic practices of the Ljubljana Alternative Scene in the eighties, a conglomerate of artistic and cultural protagonists and new social and theoretical movements (peace, ecologist, feminist, gay and lesbian; New Left, Post-Structuralism and Lacanianism) which eventually constituted a civil society. While video and multimedia practices formed its constitutive part as well as its (media) effect, the Škuc Gallery as an important protagonist of the scene introduced the concept of expanded visual arts and was actually the space where Raša Todosijević presented his work/poster “Was ist Kunst (Marinela Koželj)” in 1981 and produced a strong impact on Slovene artists and their artistic practices.

The video is referring to the political situation in Yugoslavia in its last years through the juxtaposition of an image of public space and the portrayed private space and music by the group “Borghesia.”

Marko Kovačič: American Dream

The video displays an ambivalent deconstruction of fantasies about the promised land and faith in art.

Zemira Alajbegović & Neven Korda: The Old and the New
