Oh ok - I'm not sure whether zsh can make wifes happy. :)

grml ships clex, mc, rox-filer, vfu and vifm. rox-filer is a graphic one which might fit best of that list. If that's not what you're searching for, try the filemanagers of the desktop environments like konqueror of KDE or thunar of XFCE. (Gnome sucks by default. ;))

I use debian sid mainly and tried Rox, XFE, Xffm and couldn't get on with any of them. I found emelfm which I use now and quite like; it's not pretty but the functionality and stability seems superior to those others.

Only 565kB of installed size, cute!
Thanks for mentioning it, Clive - I've added it to the grml chroot, let's see whether people like it. :)

Thanks, that's exactly the kind of input I was looking for. thanks for sharing. Stability, yeah, that's a key thing to me too.

Wow, I normally don't use file managers, but I think I like this one already.
thanks

Hi,
I tried http://pcmanfm.sourceforge.net/ after I read about it in the German "Linux User" Magazine two days ago. It is small, it behaves strongly like Windows, but it works ;)
Dont know, if it is already available in Debian since I dont hav a debian Desktop System at the moment. Had to use the Sources from the website under gentoo and it compiled rather quick and without bigger Problems.
maybe that is something for you.
bye, Robert.

JFYI: pcmanfm is available as debian package (see http://pcmanfm.sourceforge.net/download.html for details), but requires 14.0MB of additional space on grml.

Seems to have a friendly familiar GUI with power features as well.
