„Ein Institut für Pataphysik, das klingt gefährlich, ja provokant, insbesondere wenn man bedenkt, dass die Pataphysik traditionell als vollkommen absurde Wissenschaft gilt, als eine Wissenschaft, die im Grunde keine ist – eine närrisch gewordene Wissenschaft, eine verrückte Wissenschaft. Und doch ist in Zeiten, in denen Fakt und Fiktion zusehends durcheinandergeraten, sich miteinander vermengen und paaren, nicht so klar, ob nicht die moderne Wissenschaft selbst ein wenig verrückt ist. Wissenschaft kann im Grunde ja, wie alles Existente, nur relativ verfasst sein. Keine Argumentation kann lückenlos sein, keine Erkenntnis absolut. Im Grunde bedeutet dies, dass Wissenschaft und Pataphysik nicht so eindeutig voneinander getrennt werden können, wie man klassisch meint, ja dass Wissenschaft immer ein Stück weit Pataphysik ist und umgekehrt. Mit dieser Erkenntnis betritt die Hantologie bzw. das Hantologische, wie Derrida es nennt, die Bühne – eine Wesensvorstellung, die im Gegensatz zur klassisch ontologischen von einem schwellenhaften Sein, von einem relativen Sein ausgeht. Auch wenn ein solches traditionell als Tragödie und Drama verstanden wird, so ist es doch im Grunde ein Glück: denn nur weil das, was ist, begrenzt ist, kann es mit und bei sich und anderem sein. Das, was ist, ist relativ, d.h. in multiple Beziehungen verwickelt. Dies ist das Forschungsfeld des /Pegasus Institut für Pataphysik/. Als Institut für hantologische Pataphysik versteht es seine Aufgabe in der theoretischen und praktischen Untersuchung faktischer und potenzieller Wirklichkeiten, um die Diversität und Exzentrizität der Welt zu dokumentieren.“ Peter Brandlmayr

“An institute for pataphysics sounds dangerous, even provocative, especially when you consider that pataphysics is traditionally regarded as a completely absurd science, as a science that is basically not a science - a science gone mad, a crazy science.
And yet, in times when fact and fiction are becoming increasingly confused, intermingling and merging, it is not so clear whether modern science itself is not a little mad. Science, like everything that exists, can basically only be relative. No argumentation can be seamless, no knowledge absolute. Basically, this means that science and pataphysics cannot be separated from each other as clearly as is classically thought, indeed that science is always to some extent pataphysics and vice versa.
With this realisation, hantology or the hantological, as Derrida calls it, enters the stage - a conception of being that, in contrast to the classical ontological one, assumes a threshold-like being, a relative being. Even if such a being is traditionally understood as tragedy and drama, it is essentially happiness: for it is only because what is is limited that it can be with itself and with others. That which is, is relative, i.e. involved in multiple relationships. This is the research field of the Pegasus Institute for Pataphysics. As an institute for hantological pataphysics, it sees its task in the theoretical and practical investigation of actual and potential realities in order to document the diversity and eccentricity of the world."
