Liebe Freunde,
von nah und fern, von oben und unten, und von drinn' und drauß',
aber sicher nicht von rechts,

wir, das Styrian Improvisers Orchestra (STiO), zischen am 28.11.2015, 
entgegen aller Flüchtlingsströme, und froh, dass uns keine Zäune daran 
hindern, per Sonderbus nach Zagreb, um uns mit unseren kroatischen 
Freunden wieder einmal zum STICRI-Orchestra zu vereinen. /(Uff!)/

Nachdem wir ja kein Riesenorchester sind - im Sinne der Anzahl der 
Mitglieder - , wäre der Bus nur halb gefüllt. Somit hier die 
ur-mega-herzliche Einladung mit uns zu kommen.

Kosten: EUR 40,- inkl. Konzertticket
Abfahrt: ca. 11 Uhr (genaue Abfahrtszeit und -ort werden noch 
bekanntgegeben)
Rückfahrt: 24 Uhr

Das Konzert findet im Rahmen des *Fair of Culture Festivals* statt. Hier 
ein paar Infos von der Organisation:

"Everything takes place here at the Student Centre, which is big complex 
in the city centre, with lot of different venues: Theatre &TD, MM Centre 
(multimedia centre), Gallery SC, Cinema SC, French Pavilion (beautiful 
renowated round building) and nice yard. There will be an interesting 
exhibition in the French Pavilion that is in fact performative 
exhbition, kind of laboratorium, by Croatian young artist Silvio 
Vujicic.... some film program in MM centre, also lectures/discussions 
from all fields of arts, i.e. wider cultural questions, some cooking in 
between, party in the end.

    About STiO:

Das STIO wurde 2012 von V:NM Graz gegründet und besteht aus 
Musiker*innen der Grazer und Wiener Improvisationsszene und einer Anzahl 
an flukturierender Musiker*innen wie auch Gastmusiker*innen und 
-dirigent*innen, denen die Sprache der Improvisation vertraut ist. Die 
Anzahl der teilnehmenden Musiker*innen variiert zwischen 15 und 35 
Personen. Die Instrumentierung des Orchesters variiert drastisch und 
inkludierte bis dato Blasinstrumente, Streichinstrumente, 
Tasteninstrumente, Stimmen, Perkussion, elektronische und 
computergesteuerte Instrumente, selbst präparierte bzw. selbst gebaute 
Instrumente und auch "Ethno"-Instrumente.

Die Faszination eines Improvisationsorchesters beruht auf der Umsetzung 
von Dirigierzeichen wie auch anderen kreativen Improvisationsstrukturen 
auf ein ganzes Orchester. Durch bestimmte Handzeichen und erweiterte 
Symbole, die von dirigierenden Personen ausgeführt werden, wird dieser 
vielschichtige, große Klangkörper - bestehend aus einer Vielzahl an 
unterschiedlichen Instrumenten - gesteuert und koordiniert. Orchestrale 
wie auch solistische Teile sind im Programm enthalten und höchst 
spannend dabei sind die Überraschungsmomente, sogenannte „Fortune 
Cookies“, die - aus der Kontrolle eines musikalischen Prozesses, der 
über die Sprache der Improvisation funktioniert - entstehen.

The Styrian Improvisers Orchestra was founded by V:NM Graz in April 2012 
and consists of musicians from the Austrian Improvised music scene. It 
also has a certain amount of fluctuating musicians, guest artists, and 
conductors who are familiar with the language of improvised music. There 
are roughly between 15-35 musicians depending on the theme of the 
concert. The instrumentation can vary drastically, but can include 
horns, reeds, strings, keyboards, percussion, voice, electronic and 
computerized instruments, 'ethno' instruments, or even prepared and 
self-made instruments.

The fascination and intrigue of an improvisation orchestra starts its 
transformation from the first conduction sign that is given. The 
conductor, having specific hand signs and body language, and also 
extended conduction that can include props, steers the orchestra like a 
huge vessel bringing out the delicate, dense, sparse, or massive sound 
through using various amounts of the Orchestra (sections, soloists, 
etc). Through communication of 'Musicians and Conductor', improvisation 
occurs, magic happens, and in each and every moment music is created! 
Like a fortune cookie, you never really know what to expect, what will 
happen, and especially...what is created will never happen again in 
quite the same way!
