Nach einer Reihe von Diskussionen am Rande der</span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;"> </span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;">großen europäischen Medienkunstfestivals und via Emails wurde die Frage aufgeworfen: „Wo sind die Frauen?“</span><br class="" style="font-weight: normal;"><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;">Parallel dazu wurde das Projekt Face Settings gestartet: Künstlerinnen, Theoretikerinnen, Programmiererinnen, Designerinnen, Kuratorinnen, Journalistinnen wurden informell zu Tisch geladen, um in</span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;"> </span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;">entspannter Atmosphäre ihre Arbeit zu diskutieren. Bei einem dieser Dinner in Wien entstand daraus die Mailingliste FACES, die einen grundlegenden Wandel in der Praxis einiger Frauen markierte.</span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;"> </span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;">Die FACES-Liste wurde zu einer wichtigen Kommunikationsplattform.</span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;"> </span><br class="" style="font-weight: normal;"><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;">FACES </span><span class="" style="font-weight: normal;">organisierte zahlreiche informelle wie auch öffentliche Treffen, Dinner, Open-Mic Sessions und Präsentationen parallel zu verschiedenen Medienkunstfestivals. Dabei entstehen auch oft sozial ausgerichtete Kunstprojekte. Innerhalb ihrer künstlerischen Praxis sind der Herstellungsprozess des Werks und die Interaktion mit den Betrachter*innen von zentraler Bedeutung. Ein Schwerpunkt sind Konzepte, die sich mit der Spannung beschäftigen, die an der Schnittstelle von Innen und Außen, privat und öffentlich, Speziellem und Gewöhnlichem, Wohlwollen und Anstößigkeit entsteht. Sie erforscht Grenzzustände und Querverbindungen, die sich zwischen zwei Polen ergeben.<br class="">Für die Schaufenstergalerie SCHARF entwickelte Marusińska im Oktober 2017 eine ortsspezifische Installation mit dem Titel "Silence", deren konzeptuelle Basis ein Zitat von Jean-Paul Sartre ist: „Wären wir so still und so stumm wie Steine, wäre unsere Passivität ein Akt.“<br class=""><br class="">Die Arbeit stellt einen Verweis auf die aktuelle Gesellschaft dar, ohne dabei eine Wertigkeit abzugeben. Zurzeit bewegen die Welt viele unterschiedliche Themen, die oft ins Emotionale übertreten. Momentan findet in Polen eine starke Protestbewegung gegen die jetzige Regierung statt. Die sogenannte „politische Rechte“ und ihre konservativen Werte sowie ideologischen Vorstellungen sind nicht nur in Polen, sondern überall in Europa wieder beliebter. So stellt sich die Frage wie sich ein „GEGEN“ diese Werte und Vorstellungen formulieren kann. Zwischen dem aktiven und passiven Widerstand formen sich aktivistische Strategien. Ist es der tobende und Steine schleudernde Mob oder ist es der stille Widerstand, frei von Vandalismus und Gewaltszenarien, der Systeme nachhaltig verändern kann? Wie können Ungerechtigkeit und Zensur angesprochen werden? Ist in diesem Kontext manchmal wirklich „Reden Silber und Schweigen Gold“?<br class=""><br class="">Text: contemporary collective graz – Elisabeth Saubach, MA & Iris Kasper, BA, Kuratorinnen der Ausstellung “Silent”, die noch bis 24.10.2017 in der Schaufenstergalerie Scharf (Feinkost Mild, Stubenberggasse 7, 8010 Graz) zu sehen ist. </p><p class="">Karina Marusińska (geb. 1983) ist interdisziplinäre Künstlerin, Vortragende, Koordinatorin, Kulturschaffende und Gründerin sozialer Initiativen. Sie ist Mitglied der Łuhuu! performance art group (<a href="http://www.luhuu.pl" class="">www.luhuu.pl</a>) und des Food Think Tank collective (<a href="http://www.foodthinktank.pl" class="">www.foodthinktank.pl</a>).<br class="">Sie absolvierte die Eugeniusz Geppert Akademie für Kunst und Design in Wroclaw, Fakultät keramisches Design (2003-2008). Innerhalb von Stipendien-Programmen besuchte sie auch die Pais Vasco Universität in Bilbao, Spanien (2007) und das Keramik-Institut in Guebwiller, Frankreich (2008). Im Anschluss absolvierte sie außerdem den Studienlehrgang Design Management an der SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Polen (2009-2010). 2013-2014 absolvierte sie den Kurs „Koalin“ Kunst und Design in zeitgenössischer Keramik, ENSA Limoges, Frankreich und in Jingdezhen, China. Aktuell unterrichtet sie am 2. In alltäglichen Situationen inspirieren diese Elemente zum kreativ-sein. Chi hat sich das Ziel gesetzt, durch die Anwendung verschiedener Techniken, die Betrachtung aus verschiedenen Distanzen, sprachlichen Austausch, Site-Specificity, Aktionen, kritischem Diskurs und anderen künstlerischen Methoden diese Elemente zu erforschen. </font></p><p class=""><font size="2" color="#444444" class="">In anderen Worten heißt das, dass Chi‘s Arbeiten dazu tendieren, unterschiedliche Erscheinungsbilder aufzuweisen, mit denen sich auch die Ziele, mit denen er sich beschäftigt, verändern. Chi nennt dieses Stadium in seinem Produktionsprozess „Mutation“. Durch diese konzeptuelle Basis muss er zu jeder Fragestellung, mit der er sich beschäftigt, eine neue Herangehensweise entwickeln. Durch diese ständigen „Mutationen“ entwickelt Chi immer wieder neue Wege des Fließens / der Dekonstruktion / des Auseinanderdriftens in seiner künstlerischen Herangehensweise. Er nahm bereits an mehreren Residency-Programmen teil: Bamboo Curtain Studio (Taiwan, 2012), Treasure Hill Artist Village (Taipei, 2013), Pier-2 Art Center (Kaohsiung, 2014) und 18th Street Arts Center (Los Angeles, 2015). 2014 gewann Chi den ersten Preis des Taipei Arts Award.<br class=""><br class="">Beeinflusst von verschiedenen traditionellen Speisen, die an speziellen Feiertagen serviert werden, wie dem chinesischen Han Kuchen, japanischem Wagashi und taiwanesischen Backwaren entwickelte Chi seinen eigenen Stil, Reis als Material zu verwenden, ohne dabei auf ästhetische Formgebung zu verzichten. Aus diesem Kontext heraus entwickelte er die Serie „Sticky Rice Turtles“. 2014-2016 lernte er mithilfe des Wissens zweier traditioneller „pastry“ Meister „sticky rice turtles“ zu formen. Während diesem Prozess beschäftigte sich Chi mit der Beziehung zwischen aussterbenden und traditionellen Gütern der heutigen Gesellschaft. Ende 2016 filmte er diesen Prozess in einem Dokumentarvideo und präsentierte dieses gemeinsam mit mehreren Objekten. Chi möchte durch die Methoden zeitgenössischer Kunst die Entfaltung traditioneller Güter fördern und verhindern, dass diese durch die aufkommende Beschleunigung der heutigen Zeit in Vergessenheit geraten. Bei seiner Abschlusspräsentation beim Art Brunch im Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz präsentiert Chi eine eigens aus Nahrungsmitteln kreierte Schildkröte und setzt damit seine Serie „Sticky Rice Turtles“ – allerdings unter Verwendung neuer Materialen – fort.</font></p><p class=""><font size="2" color="#444444" class="">Kai-Yuan Chi wurde 1983 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, geboren und schloss seinen Master of Arts an der National Changhua University of Education ab.</font></p><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><font size="2" color="#444444" class=""> </font><img apple-inline="yes" id="2EB2DF36-85F9-404F-8B34-C71E0882FB29" src="cid:10F5F5BF-C4A5-48E3-9141-4CC7180C8D2E@box" class=""></div><p class=""><font size="2" color="#444444" class="">Das Duo <strong class="">Paul & Emil</strong> bedient sich der ältesten Mittel der Mensch- und Tierwelt: Bauchgefühl und Instinkt. Gelerntes und angeeignete Techniken, die in der Improvisation sehr kontraproduktiv sein können, werden bewusst hintenangestellt, um die Essenz der Charaktere und der musikalischen Erfahrungen im Moment immer wieder neu zu erleben.</font></p><p class=""><font size="2" color="#444444" class=""><strong class="">Paul Rogers </strong>(7-Saiten Kontrabass, Großbritannien)<br class="">Der gebürtige Brite ist ein Virtuose auf seinem einzigartigen Instrument und hat in seinem bisherigen Leben viele internationale Szenen belebt. Auf seinem Weg hat er mit Größen der Musikwelt zusammengearbeitet, aber er blieb seinen Prinzipien immer treu. Seine unheimlich kraftvoll, aber auch intensiv gefühlvoll gespielte Genremischung, wird durch sein technisches und improvisatorisches Können für das Publikum zu einem Abenteuer.<br class=""><br class=""><strong class="">Emil Gross</strong> „El Milio the Stick“<br class="">Der junge Schlagzeuger und Multiinstrumentalist aus Österreich, steht im Spannungsfeld von Funk, Drum&Bass, Stoner Rock, Free Impro, Rock Steady, Blues und Marokkanischer Musik; Er steuert an die 10 Musikalischen Projekte derzeit von Wien aus, wo er auch unterrichtet und als Studiomusiker und Gitarrist arbeitet.<br class="">Wenn nicht als solcher, dann arbeitet er an eigenen Studioprojekten, als Veranstalter oder Eventtechniker in mehreren Vereinen.<br class=""></font></p><div class=""><font face="Arial" size="2" class=""><br class=""></font></div></font></font></font></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></body></html>
