Call for Submissions for 2011 Festival
Subtle Technologies 2011 Festival is now accepting submissions.
The 2011 Festival takes place from June 2 - 5, 2011 in Toronto. For our 2011 event we are excited to be broadening the scope of our programming from a specific theme to be inclusive of all subjects that bridge art and science.
For the exhibition and performance portion of our program we typically showcase work that is engaging and technology based. Our symposium is made up of presentations, demonstrations and panel discussions that range from 15 to 45 minutes in length. Possible areas to be explored at the 2011 Festival from either an artistic or scientific approach include:

ArtScienceCamp is an intense but informal gathering of artists, scientists, engineers, architects, designers, and many others.
On Friday evening, we will collectively decide on the program for Saturday. Everyone is strongly encouraged to bring a crazy idea, a work in progress, or a vital topic for discussion, and to organize a session around it. Sessions can be talks, panel discussions, demos, or brainstorming; the best sessions are the most interactive ones.
Saturday will run according to the program that was agreed to on Friday. There will be multiple break-out spaces for smaller discussions, as well as plenty room for serendipitous connecitons and conversations. There will also be space for people to display recent projects and artworks, or works in progress.
ArtScienceCamp is based on "unconference" model that is taking off around the world, with events like SciBarCamp, DemoCamp, and many more. Successful Camp events bring together people that would not normally have conversations with each other, and create a space for surprising, serendipitous connections.
We'll finish on Saturday night with a party!
Take a look at what Seb Paquet and John Dupuis had to say about their experience at SciBarCamp, the event that ArtScienceCamp is being modeled on.
