aus gegebenem anlass (verlegung von diensten auf einen anderen host) sei
hier aus- und nachdruecklich hierauf verwiesen:

kurzfassung: hostnamen, die mit service-namen uebereinstimmen, verwenden!
dh. service login geht ueber den host login.mur.at, service imap ueber
imap.mur.at usw

das aktuelle highlight der supportanfragenhitliste:
outgoing mailserver (service smtp) = smtp.mur.at

waehrend das alles schon im juni gepostet wurde, gibt es doch eine
neuerung. und zwar funktioniert unverschluesseltes ftp nicht mehr!
wenn dein favorisiertes ftp-programm das nicht kann, musst du es wohl
oder uebel durch ein anderes (=besseres) ersetzen. siehe:

bei manchen mailprogrammen sind seit der umstellung folgende probleme
aufgetreten:
- - saemtliche mails sind als ungelesen markiert
  sorry! da sind wir machtlos...
- - mailfolder sind 'verschwunden'
  nicht wirklich, sie muessen nur neu subskribiert werden.


bei der gelegenheit: das NOC raet von der verwendung von netscape und
mozilla ab! empfohlene software:
browser: mozilla-firefox
mailclient: mozilla-thunderbird

if you are experiencing problems using mur.at services since yesterday
(2005.09.15), especially when sending mail via mur.at, please consult:

short version: use hostnames that match service names!
i.e. service login is provided by host login.mur.at, imap by imap.mur.at
etc.

our current support-highlight:
outgoing mailserver (service smtp) = smtp.mur.at

while that is nothing new (wrong settings only really taking effect
now), there is one change: unencrypted ftp is no longer supported! if
your favorite ftp program does not support ftps you will have to switch
to another (=better) one. see:

with some mailprograms you might have encountered the following problems:
- - all mails are marked 'unread'
  sorry! that's beyond our obedience...
- - mailfolders have 'disappeared'
  they haven't really, you will only have to re-subscribe.
