wie ja schon etliche bemerkt haben, gibt es seit vergangenen freitag kein 
pop service mehr auf mur.at. das ist keine absicht unsererseits, sondern 
eine eigenmaechtige entscheidung des servers. leider konnte ich ihn bis 
jetzt noch nicht dazu bewegen, sich wieder zu melden.

eigentlich sollte das garnicht so ein grosses problem sein, wenn alle, wie 
von uns empfohlen, imap verwenden wuerden. das geht. und zwar so:
alle settings im mailclient bleiben unveraendert, nur eben statt pop imap 
einstellen. bei m$ outlook und mozilla (und vielleicht noch anderen mail 
clients) gibt es anscheinend die doofe eigenheit, dass das fuer einen 
bestehenden account (deutsch auch konto genannt) im nachhinein nicht mehr 
umgestellt werden kann, mensch also ein neues sog. konto / einen neuen 
account einrichten muss. eure mails auf dem server kratzt das garnicht, dh 
sie werden nachher genau so da sein wie vorher.

ausser ihr habt eure gruende (welche?), solltet ihr imap auch beibehalten, 
wenn pop wieder geht.

as some of you have noticed, our pop service has been unavailable since 
last friday. that's not intended but an autonomous decision of the server. 
unfortunately i haven't had any success in convincing it to do its duty 
and answer requests again, so far.
anyway, imap works (and also is our preferred protocol). to use it, simply 
change the protocol for receiving mail from pop to imap, all other 
settings are unaffected. there seems to be an issue with m$ outlook, 
mozilla and possibly other mail clients, where it is not possible to 
change the protocol for an existing account, but you have to set up a new 
one with the same settings, only imap instead of pop.
your mails on the server will not be affected at all by that change.
