WILL MY PARENTS COME TO SEE ME by Austrian-Somali director Mo Harawe was awarded the German Short Film Award 2022 as Best Short Film in the category Feature Film between 10-30 minutes yesterday in Hamburg.

Since its premiere at Berlinale Shorts 2022, the Austrian-German-Somali co-production has celebrated over 40 festival invitations worldwide with numerous awards.
Most recently, the film was also nominated for the European Film Award 2022, which will take place in Reykjavik in early December.

WILL MY PARENTS COME TO SEE ME narrates in quiet shots the last hours in the life of a young man (Farah) sentenced to death in a prison in Somalia. 
Organizational machinery starts up around him. Farah is examined by a doctor, instructed by the bailiff, and looked after by an imam. Farah is waiting for his parents to visit.  
In Mo Harawe’s film there is no good or bad, no right or wrong. There is only life that everyone clings to.
