We continue to condemn the aggressive act of the Putin administration towards Ukraine. Our thoughts are with the victims of this war and with our friends from Ukrainian, but also with the people in Russia who are courageously standing up against the war.

Regardless of the sad and tragic events, we have at least good news from the film festival world:

Beatrix, the wonderful debut film by Lilith Kraxner and Milena Czernovsky, continues its successful festival career.

Beatrix is currently screening at the FICUNAM Festival in Mexico City as well as is Singing in Oblivion, the latest film by Eve Heller, a poetic cinematographic study of forgetting and remembering Jewish culture in Vienna.
Furthermore, you can see the latest version of Friedl von Gröller's long-term portrait Max Turnheim (2002-2021).

Beatrix has been also invited to The Art of the Real Festival at New York's renowned Lincoln Center, where Peter Tscherkassky's latest masterpiece Train Again will celebrate its NY premiere.

Gudrun Krebitz's Echodrom (Nighttime at the Well), on the other hand, will celebrate its world premiere at the upcoming CPH:DOX in Copenhagen, once again exploring the boundaries of documentary filmmaking with her personal and poetic film.
Unsurprisingly Beatrix has been selected for the CPH:DOX program too.

A further hybrid documentary is KRAI by Aleksey Lapin, for which he was awarded Best Director and with the Price for preservation of culture in the Russian section at the Spirit of Fire Debut Film Festival in Siberia’s Kanthy-Mansiysk, just in the days when the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine started.

For the recent edition of reknown Ann Arbor Film Festival dedicated to experimental film a number of works by sixpackfilm have again been selected. These include new titles by Michaela Grill, Anna Vasof, Tina Frank, Lydia Nsiah or Gregor Eldarb as well as Peter Tscherkassky. Some of them will celebrate their US premiere. In addition, the festival dedicates one of its tribute programs to the Austrian artist Thomas Renoldner, who has always understood himself on the borders between animated and experimental film. Thomas Renoldner’s films have recently been acquired by sixpackfilm for distribution.

Talking about retrospectives: the Short film festival in Dresden dedicates a special to the Grand Dame of Austrian experimental film, Mara Mattuschka. In addition, a number of films from sixpackfilm distribution will be shown in various programs, including amongst others works by Marzieh Emadi and Sina Saadat, Matthias Müller, Veronika Schubert or Jan Soldat.
