The light at the end of the tunnel – could be the light shining from the cinema screens ! 😊
Movie-theatres are finally opening and film festivals return back from the virtual spheres to make collective cinema experiences real again.

Amongst the returning to cinemas is the upcoming VIS Vienna Shorts 2021, they will be screening part of their programs in theatres or Open Air, while another part will stay online in the internet.

We are all very exited about the start of this exceptional year’s festival season and sixpackfilm is happy to contribute again with several programs and films in nearly all sections of Vienna Shorts: here are some highlights of this collaboration:

Paul Wenninger 
in collaboration with Austrian Filmmuseum



Just two weeks ago, Paul Wenninger’s latest short O had celebrated it’s world premiere at prestigious Oberhausen Short Film Festival. Since several years the skilled dancer and choreographer attracts interest of the international film industry with his precise stop-motion pixilations. 
With Wenninger, the film becomes a choreographic work, the body an object. To achieve this, the Viennese-born director likes to put himself in front of the camera or works with dancers – because an excellent command of one's body is crucial. 
Wenninger’s four shorts will be combined with selected films by the artist and will be presented both on site in the „Invisible Cinema“ of the Austrian Filmmuseum as well as online on Vienna Shorts festival’s hub.

Claudia Larcher




Most of Larcher’s films defy classification and trigger a lasting sense of unease. Whether it’s the storage spaces of Empty Rooms that are slowly brought to life, or the body surfaces in SELF that mutate into endless skin landscapes, or the mountain ranges of ORE that seamlessly transition into a large mine—the steady tracking shots always suggest a certain movement, which, however, is only generated on the computer on the basis of individual images. The themes of architecture, body, and nature run through the program like a thread. “You can’t help but watch Larcher’s films to the very end, as they generate a maelstrom like one of David Lynch’s fright-fests,” wrote the Viennale on the occasion of the 2013 retrospective (Daniel Ebner)
