Toronto International Film Festival
7 - 17 september 2017

Once again TIFF assured the World Premiere of the newest film by Friedl vom Gröller, Ticino,  for their famous Wavenlength section. 
Originally becoming known as a photographer, Friedl vom Gröller produces sensitive but nevertheless insisting analogue black/white films using her 16mm Bolex, mainly portraying relatives and friends or people she got to know during her travels to France, Italy or Senegal.

A silent, black and white film portrait of two children set against the eponymous Swiss river, Ticino takes its cue from Franz West's famous "Adaptives" sculptures.

Ruth Beckermann - Films on Tour
@ London / Close-Up
3 - 24 september 2017




London’s Close-Up Film Centre will host the first complete retrospective of Ruth Beckermann in the UK.
London therefore is the start of a worldwide tour - organized by sixpackfilm - of this well known Austrian documentary filmmaker.
Born in Vienna in 1952, Beckermann has been creating essay films and documentaries for 40 years and is well known internationally as one of Austria’s most courageous and spirited filmmakers. This programme explores the work of a director equally suspicious of closed narrative forms and linear views of history and memory.
Several films of the retrospective will be shown in the presence of the director with extended talks after the screenings.

MARIENBAD FILM FESTIVAL
29 august - 2 september 2017





Right in its first edition the enthusiastic Marienbad Film Festival - opening on august 29th - will give a focus on contemporary experimental cinema from Austria.
In two selected programs one can enjoy films by Peter Tscherkassky, Siegfried Fruhauf, Billy Roisz & Dieter Kovacic, Rainer Kohlberger, Claudia Larcher, Björn Kämmerer and many more.

The Films of Ferry Radax @ Anthology Film Archive / NY
1 - 7 september 2017




Ferry Radax belongs to the very first generation of Austrian AvantGarde Cinema, being collabroator and DOP of Peter Kubelka’s MOSAIK IM VERTRAUEN and creating a highlight of early 60s experimental cinema with SONNE HALT! (SUN STOP!) 
One of the seven Anthology programs dedicated to Ferry Radax presents the extraordinary artist´s portrait  THOMAS BERNHARD - THREE DAYS which has also been published on DVD at INDEX-DVD.
