<p style="margin-bottom: 0; text-indent: 0; margin-top: 0;">Die HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark freut sich eine neue in Auftrag gegebene Performance des US-amerikanischen Choreographen, Komponisten und Künstlers Colin Self (*1987 Aloha, USA, lebt in Berlin) zu präsentieren. Während eines zweimonatigen Aufenthaltes in Graz hat Self seine Recherche zu Polari, einer fast vergessenen Geheimsprache bzw. Ausdrucksform vertieft. Polari wurde vermehrt während der 1930er- und 1970er-Jahre, vorrangig in Großbritannien unter homosexuellen Zirkusleuten, Matrosen und damals auf Grund ihrer sexuellen Orientierung kriminalisierten Personen, verwendet.<br><br>
Im Austausch mit Vera de Vienne (alias Werner Obermayer) und anderen lokalen als auch internationalen Kollaborateur_innen wird Self ein neues performatives Stück präsentieren, das auf einzigartige Weise diese vielschichtigen kulturellen Prägungen jener eigenständigen queeren Subkulturen aufnimmt, zusammenführt und neuinterpretiert.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0; text-indent: 0; margin-top: 0;">Mit großzügigen Leihgaben der Slovak National Gallery und der Linea Collection Bratislava wirft die HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark einen frischen Blick auf das nachhaltig wirksame Werk des Künstlers Stano Filko. Die Ausstellung beleuchtet die Bedeutung dieser herausragenden Größe und seines progressiven Gesellschaftsentwurfs für die heutigen – weniger visionären – Zeiten.<br><br>
Stano Filko (*1937 Veľká Hradná, †2015 Bratislava) war in der Zeit der mitteleuropäischen Neo-Avantgarde einer der wichtigsten Vertreter moderner tschecho-slowakischer Kunst, sein komplexes Oeuvre verweist auf die Strömungen Fluxus, Nouveau Realisme, Dada und Pop Art. Mitte der 1960er-Jahre begann er mit der Entwicklung von Environments, Installationen, pneumatischen Skulpturen und utopischen Architekturen, die sein erstarkendes Interesse an Transzendentalphilosophie, Kosmologie und Metaphysik widerspiegeln. Dieses Interesse lässt sich im Besonderen in den von Fluxus stark beeinflussten Happenings und Aktionen im öffentlichen Raum nachempfinden, die einen integralen Aspekt seines Gesamtwerks bilden.</p>
