<p style="margin-bottom: 0; text-indent: 0; margin-top: 0;">Constanze Itzel hinterfragt in ihrem Abendvortrag ideologische Konzepte in Bezug auf Europa und im Spezifischen auf die aktuelle Ausstellung <em>Europa: Antike Zukunft</em>. In Auseinandersetzung mit aktuellen politischen Anliegen fragt Itzel: Was ist das europäische Erbe? Was erkennen wir Europäer als Teil eines gemeinsamen Erbes an und was nicht? Demokratie, griechische Philosophie, römisches Recht oder die Aufklärung werden weithin als Teil des spezifisch europäischen Erbes akzeptiert. Aber wie gehen wir mit den Schattenseiten Europas wie Kolonialismus, Sklaverei oder Abschiebungspolitik um? Wie mit der umstrittenen Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts?<br><br>
Dr. Constanze Itzel (*1974 Nürnberg, lebt in Brüssel) ist eine deutsche Kunsthistorikerin und seit 2017 Direktorin des Hauses der Europäischen Geschichte in Brüssel. Von 1993 bis 1998 studierte Itzel Kunstgeschichte sowie französische und italienische Literatur an den Universitäten Erlangen-Nürnberg, Nantes und Heidelberg.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0; text-indent: 0; margin-top: 0;">In seinem Vortrag präsentiert der Künstler seine Aufarbeitung der Form, der historisch zugeschriebenen Funktion und der aktuellen Rezeption des Pergamonaltars, die er durch seine Arbeit <em>Bergama Stereo</em> (2019) und deren Variation <em>Bergama Stereotip</em> (2020) vorgenommen hat. Die Arbeit, eine architektonische Installation mit Sound und einem Performance-Programm, bezieht sich auf den Altar und seinen berühmten Gigantomachie-Fries, der sich ursprünglich im heutigen İzmir, Türkei, dem historischen Pergamon befand. Die originalen Elemente wurden Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts nach Berlin transportiert und eine Rekonstruktion speziell für das neue Pergamonmuseum angefertigt. <em>Bergama Stereo</em> wurde an zwei verschiedenen Orten in Deutschland ausgestellt; zunächst in Bochum im Rahmen der Ruhrtriennale und im Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum für Gegenwartskunst (Berlin, 2019). Anschließend wurde es als <em>Bergama Stereotip</em> bei Arter (Istanbul, 2020) neu entworfen und rekonstruiert, wodurch weiterführende Ideen wie Originalität, Remake und Rückkehr untersucht werden.<br><br>
Cevdet Erek, (*1974 Istanbul, lebt in Instanbul), studierte Architektur an der Mimar Sinan Universität der Schönen Künste in Istanbul und Tontechnik und Sounddesign am Centre for Advanced Studies in Music der Istanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, wo er auch promovierte.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0; text-indent: 0; margin-top: 0;">Aus den diesjährigen Einreichungen des Open Call wurde das Künstler_innen-Duo Ilkin Beste Cirak und Nigel Gavus für die Panther Residency der HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark nominiert.<br><br>
Aus unterschiedlichen Hintergründen kommend und derzeit als Künstler_innen-Duo tätig, suchen Ilkin Beste Cirak und Nigel Gavus eine Synthese verschiedener Medien: Poesie, Film, Literatur, Skulptur und Raum sind ihre Erkundungsfelder. Ihre Arbeit ist klar strukturiert und vielschichtig. Ihr gemeinsames Ziel ist es, unsichtbare Themen in eine visuelle Sprache zu übersetzen und die Rolle visueller „Codes“ in unserer Gesellschaft zu hinterfragen. Ihre Zusammenarbeit thematisiert Identität und Zugehörigkeit, sowie Raumgestaltung in der Art der relationalen Kunst und Ästhetik. Ihre erste filmische Kollaboration <em>Letters from a Window</em>, wurde auf der Diagonale 21’ uraufgeführt und am Vienna Shorts Festival mit dem Publikumspreis für den beliebtesten österreichischen Kurzfilm unter zehn Minuten ausgezeichnet.</p>
