Gleich mehrere großformatige Neuproduktionen spielen mit der Wahrnehmung der Besucher_innen der Institution durch die Adaption, Spiegelung und Streckung ihrer Architektur. So breitet sich der Himmel in der Haupthalle im Erdgeschoss des Künstlerhauses in den Raum aus, während eine großformatige Arbeit auf der Außenwand der Apsis des Künstlerhauses den Einblick in das Innere des Ausstellungsraums offenbart. „The Sky Opens Twice" führt die Variabilität der Realität vor Augen, weist darauf hin, dass sich die Gegenwart – wenn auch nicht immer unmittelbar sichtbar – aus der Vergangenheit speist und lädt zum Dialog und zur Erweiterung des Horizonts ein. <BR><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" ><a href="https://www.km-k.at/de/exhibition/peles-empire/text/">Mehr lesen zu Peles Empire …</a> <BR><BR>/<BR><BR>Mit </SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;" >Ákos Ezer</SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" > präsentiert Kurator Sandro Droschl einen ungarischen Maler der jüngeren Generation, der sich thematisch nah an der Realität der Gegenwart seines Heimatlandes abarbeitet. Gegenstand seiner Malerei sind fortlaufend absichtsvoll oder slapstickhaft stürzende, zumeist männliche Figuren. Eine neue Bildserie zeigt zudem riesenhafte Portraits mit verdrehten, überdimensionalen Hälsen. Der Sturz und die körperliche Verrenkung werden zu inhaltlichen Gesten in Ezers Werken; diese ereilen die Protagonisten zumeist in Alltagssituationen. Mit seinen durch die eigenartigen Bewegungen entrückt wirkenden Körpern erzählt der Künstler kraftvoll vom Scheitern, dem Ungeschick und der Fehlbarkeit des Einzelnen und der Gesamtgesellschaft. Several large-format new productions toy with the perception of exhibition visitors by adapting, mirroring, and distending the venue’s architecture. The sky of the main hall on the ground level of the Künstlerhaus spreads out across the space, while a large-format piece on the exterior wall of the Künstlerhaus apse reveals a glimpse of the exhibition room inside. "The Sky Opens Twice" illustrates the variability of reality, indicating how the present—even if not always immediately apparent—draws on the past. The exhibition invites visitors to engage in dialogue and to expand the horizon. <BR><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" ><a href="https://www.km-k.at/en/exhibition/peles-empire/text/">Read more on Peles Empire …</a><BR><BR>/<BR><BR>In showing the work of </SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;" >Ákos Ezer</SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" >, curator Sandro Droschl is presenting a Hungarian artist of the younger generation who is thematically processing the present-day reality of his home country. The usual subjects of his paintings are human figures, frequently male, immersed in a precipitous state, either deliberately or in slapstick-like way. A new series of paintings shows gigantic portraits with oversized twisted necks. The fall and the bodily contortions become gestures of content in Ezer’s works, which tend to overtake the protagonists in everyday situations. With these bodies, seemingly distorted by strange movements, the artist powerfully speaks of the foundering, the clumsiness, and the fallibility of the individual and of society as a whole.
