Die österreichische Wissenschaftlerin forscht im Rahmen einer phänomenologischen Bewusstseins- und Handlungstheorie unter anderem zu moralischen und politischen Emotionen. Als Philosophin untersucht sie, ob es berechtigt und nützlich ist, Emotionen als privat oder öffentlich, politisch oder nicht-politisch, positiv oder negativ zu kategorisieren. Soweit Politik die handelnde Gestaltung des öffentlichen Lebens meint und Emotionen ein starker Motivationsfaktor menschlichen Handelns sind, schließt Politik die Kultivierung unserer Emotionen ein. Sind Emotionen komplex, indem sie sowohl eine differenzierte Binnenstruktur aufweisen als auch in vielfältiger Weise mit sozialen Normierungen verknüpft sind, kann sich eine verantwortliche Politik der Emotionen nicht darauf beschränken, bloß den „sichtbaren“ Anteil (insbesondere intolerabler) emotionaler Äußerungen zu bearbeiten. Sie muss sich darüber hinaus mit Fragen der Formierung, Habitualisierung und Immunisierung von Emotionen befassen.<BR><BR>Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. phil. Sonja Rinofner-Kreidl (*1965 Salzburg, lebt in Graz) ist Professorin am Institut für Philosophie der Universität Graz. Seit 2008 ist sie European Editor des Journals „Husserl Studies“ und seit 2009 Präsidentin der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Phänomenologie. Zuletzt erschienen ist ein zusammen mit John J. Drummond herausgegebener Sammelband „Emotional Experiences: Ethical and Social Significance“ (London & New York: Rowman & Littlefield, 2018). In ihrer Forschung beschäftigt sie sich neben erkenntnistheoretischen, ethischen und werttheoretischen Fragen mit im politischen Kontext zu beobachtenden emotionalen Momenten und Situationen der Empörung, Vergebung und Dankbarkeit – sowie Hate Speeches.<BR><BR>--<BR><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;" >28 03 2019 6 p.m.<BR>Thinking Outside the Box: on Critical Thinking in the Age of Technologically Reproduced Hate Speech<BR>Sonja Rinofner-Kreidl, Lecture<BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" ><BR>In her lecture "Thinking Outside the Box: on Critical Thinking in the Age of Technologically Reproduced Hate Speech" Sonja Rinofner-Kreidl conducts a philosophical approach to the theme of the exhibition, by pursuing the question of what makes emotions political or what politicization of emotions means. The Austrian scientist conducts her research in the frame of a phenomenological awareness and action theory about moral and political emotions, among others. As a philosopher, she investigates the usefulness to categorize emotions as private or public, political or apolitical, positive or negative. If politics is understood as the acting formation of public life and emotions are a strong motivational factor of human action, politics includes the cultivation of emotions. Emotions are complex as they exhibit a differentiated internal structure and are linked in a diverse manner to social norms, that is why responsible politics of emotions cannot confine itself to only deal with the "visible" part of (especially intolerable) emotional expressions. Moreover, it has to consider questions of the formation, habitualizing and immunization of emotions.<BR><BR>Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. phil. Sonja Rinofner-Kreidl (*1965 Salzburg, lives in Graz) is a professor at the institute of philosophy at the University of Graz.
