Aggression und Intimität" zeigt internationale Positionen der zeitgenössischen Kunst, die sich mit Formen der zunehmend aggressiven Kommunikation und Wirkung der Social Media und ihren medialen Spielarten befassen. Dabei steht die sozial-medial kommunizierende Person mit ihrem sozialen Mitteilungsbedürfnis, medialisiertem Engagement und Identitäten hinterfragendem Spiel um Anonymität und Rollentausch im Mittelpunkt. Die Autor_in sehnt sich gleichzeitig jedoch auch nach individueller Abgrenzung und Erkennbarkeit und scheint so auf der Suche nach einer aktualisierten Fassung von Individualität und Intimität zu sein. In zunehmendem Ausmaß umso erschreckender sind die Reaktionen aus Teilen der Netz-Community, die sich in Ablehnung, Missgunst und Hass nahezu überbieten. Weiterführende Fragen rund um Meinungs-, Kunst- und Pressefreiheit begleiten die Auseinandersetzung um das Projekt „Hate Speech. "Hate Speech: Aggression and Intimacy" presents international positions in contemporary art that address forms of ever more aggressive communication and the effects of social media, as well as their media-related facets. Taking center stage here are people communicating through social media with their urge to express themselves socially, with their media-driven dedication and identity-questioning game of anonymity and role-playing. At the same time, however, these individuals yearn for their own personal boundaries and visibility, apparently on a quest for an updated kind of individuality and intimacy. To an increasing extent, the reactions from parts of the Internet community are ever more alarming, with people outdoing each other in their expressions of hostility, resentment, and hate.
