<em><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">The lecture will focus on the debates surrounding migration in Europe, and suggest that it is worth taking a long view of these debates, since they raise vital questions about the values forged during the period
of Enlightenment. While Europe, during its centuries of imperial expansion, exported its problems to the rest of the world, the world's problems are today being played out in Europe. What is the best way to respond to this reversal?</span></em><o:p></o:p></span></p>

</span></strong>als einer der derzeit prominentesten Globalisierungstheoretiker weltweit. Er schreibt der Imagination eine gesellschaftsveränderte Kraft zu und definiert sie als soziale Praxis, die zur Schlüsselkomponente einer neuen Weltordnung wurde. Digitale
Medien, Literatur, Filme, Nachrichten, Zeitungen, Werbung u.a. vermitteln Bilder möglicher Lebensentwürfe und weisen Wege zu ihrer Realisierung. Bilder und Imaginationen bestimmen Mobilitätsentscheide und Mobilitätsformen mit. In besonderer Weise betrifft
dies <strong><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Migration und Tourismus</span></strong> an ihren Ausgangs- und Zielorten. Diese Orte sind mit virtuellen Räumen verschränkt, die sich aus den Perspektiven und Wunschwelten ihrer gedacht oder real
mobilen Akteur_innen konstituieren. Ihre Anerkennung als legitime Motivationen hingegen betrifft die mobilisierten Akteur_innen der Weltgesellschaft in sehr ungleicher Weise: Grenzen und Beschränkungen treten ihnen in unterschiedlicher, durch lange zurückreichende,
koloniale Machtverhältnisse geprägte und heute aktualisierte Bedingungen entgegen.<br>
Waren die Sehnsuchtsszenarien ‚des Westens’ im touristischen Mobilitätsfeld auf der/die/das Andere jenseits der Industriemoderne gerichtet und hatten Migrationen traditionell den prosperierenden ‚Norden’/’Westen’ im Visier, so haben sich diese Parameter einer
klassisch kolonialen Weltaufteilung längst zugunsten multizentrischer, turbulenter Mobilitätsszenarien und neuer Grenzziehungen verschoben, in denen ‚Europa’ und ‚der Westen’ an Zentralität eingebüßt haben.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">Auf der Tagung stellen Nachwuchswissenschaftler_innen aus Kulturanthropologie und Europäischer Ethnologie Forschungen zum Thema vor. Eine
<strong><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Podiumsdiskussion</span></strong> am 16.11.2018, 18.30-20.00h widmet sich abschließend der
<strong><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Zukunft der politischen Imagination.</span></strong><o:p></o:p></span></p>
