Im essayistisch angelegten „Soft Film“ kann die Künstlerin dabei beobachtet werden, wie sie auf eBay ersteigerte Gegenstände nach unterschiedlichen Vorgaben arrangiert und kategorisiert. Dabei werden Fragen zur Ökonomie von Dingen ebenso aufgeworfen wie zu deren Einsatz außerhalb der intendierten Nutzung. Als Protagonistin des Films ist es die Künstlerin selbst, die bei der Kombination der unterschiedlichen Gegenstände beobachtet werden kann. Elemente aus den fotografischen Arbeiten und den Publikationen der Künstlerin sind in den Film integriert. Ebenso setzt sich das Voice-Over im Film aus von Cwynar selbst geschriebenen Passagen und Zitaten aus anthropologischen Schriften und Texten zur Bildtheorie zusammen.<BR><BR>Sara Cwynar (*1985 Vancouver, lebt in New York) studierte englische Literatur an der University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Grafikdesign an der York University, Toronto und Fotografie an der Yale University, New Haven. Although designed as an open format, the works shown from May to September 2018 are mainly based on keywords such as “moving image” and the “digital.” <BR><BR>For the second contribution to the newly initiated series “Room D: Digital Projects” the Canadian artist </SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-weight: bold;" >Sara Cwynar</SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';" > reflects on the circulation of objects on digital auction and selling platforms. In her “Soft Film” that follows the tradition of the essay film the artist can be observed as she combines and arranges objects purchased on eBay, according to different specifications.
