Die Sehnsucht danach, das gesamte Werk zu sehen, ist jedoch ungeheuer mächtig und hat durch die Dekaden die wildesten Blüten getrieben – von Rekonstruktionen, die länger sind als der Film je war, bis zu Director's Cuts, bei denen der Regisseur vergessen haben muss, was er ursprünglich wollte, denn sonst müsste er „seine Version" nicht mehrmals überarbeiten (ein Original, fünf Originalere!). Olaf Möller wird über den Umgang mit Filmfragmenten sowie die Fragmentierung von Film-Erfahrung sprechen, und dabei die vielen verschiedenen Arten und Weisen von Ganzheitsannäherungen zur Anschauung bringen. Yet, our longing to grasp the work as a whole exceeds us and has, over decades, created wild offshoots – reconstructions that are longer than the original; director’s cuts in which the director seemingly forgets what the film is about because why would one otherwise need multiple versions? Based on a wide range of examples addressing the relationship between fragment and whole, Olaf Möller will speak about how we deal with film fragments and how our experience of film is fragmented in return.
