Während und eigens für die Ausstellung „ordinary freaks – Das Prinzip Coolness in Popkultur, Theater und Museum" entsteht durch Errichtung einer Bühne im Untergeschoß des Künstlerhaus KM– eine Clubsituation, in der in einem umfangreichen Begleitprogramm „An Art Day’s GIG Nights" (Gig 20:00, Bar 19-22:00) mit Lesungen und Live-Konzerten über den Ausstellungszeitraum hinweg immer donnerstags ab 19:00 die mit solchen Unternehmen verbundenen Musealisierungsgefahren aufgeführt und wieder gebrochen werden. Die Bühne, deren Grundriss dem Logo einer britischen Punk-Band entlehnt ist, entsteht in und aus einer Workshop-Situation mit Studierenden des „Institut für Grundlagen der Konstruktion und des Entwerfens“ der TU Graz.

An diesem Abend wird der umfangreiche Katalog zur Ausstellung „… Was ist Kunst? … Resuming Fragmented Histories” (Verlag für Moderne Kunst, Nürnberg) präsentiert. Die in der letztjährigen und gleichnamigen Ausstellung vertretene Professorin, Künstlerin und Autorin Dr. Marina Gržinić wird, ausgehend von ihrem Katalogbeitrag „1977 bis 1984. Eine Zeit, die weiterlebt – bloß anders“, in einem Vortrag mit dem Titel „Tell me who is the freak here? Paranoia, disgust, terror“ korrespondierend mit der Thematik der aktuellen Ausstellung „ordinary freaks – Das Prinzip Coolness in Popkultur, Theater und Museum“ Gültigkeiten einstiger philosophischer Überlegungen und künstlerischen Praxen sowie nachhaltigen theoretischen Einflüssen auf die eigene Arbeit nachspüren.

During and specially designed for "ordinary freaks – The Principle of Coolness in Pop Culture, Theatre and Museum" through the erection of a stage a club situation takes form in the lower level of the Künstlerhaus KM–. In a comprehensive programme "An Art Day’s GIG Nights" (Gig 8pm / Bar 7-10pm) accompanying and extending beyond the exhibition duration, for instance featuring readings and live concerts, the perils of musealisation related to such undertakings will be enacted and then disrupted again. This stage, whose layout was inspired by the logo of a British punk band, is being built as part of a workshop situation involving students from the Institute of Construction and Design Principles at Graz University of Technology.

On this evening the extensive catalogue for the exhibition “… Was ist Kunst? … Resuming Fragmented Histories” (Verlag für Moderne Kunst, Nuremberg) will be presented. The professor, artist, and author represented in last year’s show of the same name, Dr. Marina Gržinić, will give a lecture titled, “Tell Me Who is the Freak Here? Paranoia, Disgust, Terror,” based on her catalogue essay, “1977 to 1984. A Time Period Comes Alive Again—Only Differently.” The lecture also corresponds to the theme of the current exhibition, “ordinary freaks – The Principle of Coolness in Pop Culture, Theater, and Museum.” In it, Dr. Gržinić explores the validity of erstwhile philosophical ideas and artistic practices, as well as lasting theoretical influences on her own work.
