*KLUTE *(Commercial Suicide, Soul:r, Hospital, Metalheadz / UK)
The musical career of Tom Withers began way before the sounds of drum
and bass or even hardcore had first emerged. He fronted a succesfull
skate punk outfit The Stupids during the late 1980s, before venturing
into electronic music and starting his own solo career.
>From acid house and techno he made a natural progression into rave and
then hardcore before playing his first gigs as a drum and bass DJ around
1996. His rebel roots and punk attitude created Klute’s trademark: an
ability to combine a multitude of influences in his music, from techno
to thrash to dub.
Klute’s early forays into jungle brought several outings on the seminal
Certificate 18 label and a relationship grew that resulted in the
release of his first artist album, in 1998. Klute went on to release a
further album on Certificate 18 in 2000, before he set up his own imprint.
Klute kicked off Commercial Suicide with the genre-defying classic
“Tranceformat” in 2001 and set the tone for the label that has since
come to be held in the highest regard. Releases from the likes of
Calibre, Digital, Spirit, Hive and Juju, and later SKC and Amit, raised
the label’s profile and helped build a reputation for varied output
across the specturm of drum and bass, testing both musical boundaries
and the dancefloor.
Mixing heart-stopping melodies with relentless beats, Klute has
developed a sound that is very much his own and one that appeals to a
broad audience. His latest LP, “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, gives the
fullest representation of his sound yet, however, taking the listener
through a spectrum of styles.
Equally when playing, Klute always brings a fresh and varied selection
with the same high energy levels as his productions are known for. So
far this year he’s played gigs all over the UK and Europe as well as
tours in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia to include Japan,
Korea, China, and even Vladivostok and has shown no signs of stopping yet.

*Mary Anne Hobbs* (Planet-Mu / UK)
Radio 1 firebrand at the helm of the pioneering Experimental electronic
show (formerly known as the Breezeblock), Mary Anne is pushing next
generation dubstep, grime, drum&bass, hip-hop, techno, dark dancefloor
and radical electronic flavaz in every form. Just a handful of guests
you'll have found mixing and in session on the show include The Beastie
Boys, Bjork, Burial, Squarepusher, Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos,
Amon Tobin, Jeff Mills, Trentmoller, Rhythm& Sound, Santogold, Justice,
Kano, Radiohead, Metallica, Photek, Mike Patton, Autechre, besides of
course all the leading dubstep artists. Her 'Dubstep Warz' show for
Radio1 in January 2006 is widely regarded as the show that broke the
dubstep sound globally, and she followed this in August 2008 with the
'Generation Bass' special curated at her invitation by the original
Dubstep Warz DJs. Mary Anne released a definitive underground
compilation album in June 2008 'Evangeline' on the Planet Mu label,
following her notorious debut for the label 'Warrior Dubz' in October
2006. This year Mary Anne curated for the 2nd time stage at Sonar
Festival, following the historic UK Dubstep Showcase at Sonar Festival
in 2007, taking the sound out of small humid clubs for the very first
time and onto an international festival stage. Before coming to BBC
Radio 1 in 1997, Mary Anne was writing for Sounds, NME and Loaded, and
was working for BBC GLR and XFM. Working for BBC Radio 1, Mary Anne
hosted shows from all the major award ceremonies: Q, NME, Brits,
Kerrang, Mercury Music Prize… and made documentaries about artists as
diverse as David Bowie, Slipknot and The Sex Pistols. She founded and
fronted the award-winning Radio 1 Rock Show for five years, fronted 27
hours of live coverage at Glastonbury Festival for the BBC, and much more...

*Zomby *(Hyperdub, Werk / UK)
Zomby comes from nowhere and is already dead.
Enigmatic UK producer, Zomby makes rave music, but often cramming
everything from rave, grime, crunk and dubstep to garage, jackin' house,
Nintendo and bassline into whatever space he can, and without
compromising the songs as a whole.
Zomby's demo tracks were played by Mary Anne Hobbs on Radio One's
Breezeblock and then quickly gathered support from DJ's such as Kode 9,
Skream, Erol Alkan, Laurent Garnier, Tayo, Diplo, Modeselektor, Matt
Shadetek, and many more.
Zomby released several 12” singles, before he released his debut
full-length “Where Were U In '92?”, out on Werk Records.
Zomby´s music can be heard broadcasted worldwide on radio stations
pirate and legal such as
Rinse FM, Kiss FM, Radio 1, 1XTRA, React FM, Freeze FM, Sub FM and many
more, as well as at clubs and raves worldwide.
Zomby is Contributing Music Editor at SUPERSUPER Magazine (London) and
also contributes to MAD DECENT Blogspot. www.maddecent.com/blog/
December will see him release a new EP for Hyperdub, home to Burial and
Kode9.
