So als ob sie nur für eine Betriebspause abgeschaltet worden wäre,
stehen die Maschinen, Räder und Transmissionsriemen der seit der
Gründung im Jahre 1911 nahezu unverändert gebliebenen
Walzengravieranstalt in Guntramsdorf nunmehr still. 1986 musste dieser
Betrieb geschlossen werden und ist jetzt in seiner geschlossenen
Gesamtheit auf ca. 250 qm Betriebsfläche als industrie- und
technikgeschichtlich bedeutendes Ensemble museal gewidmet.

Das Projekt "Transmission" besteht aus einer Installation und einer
Performance - beide in den Räumlichkeiten des stillgelegten Betriebs.
Während der Performances werden die Maschinen als "Instrumente" wieder
in Betrieb genommen, vor allem die komplett erhaltene, in Mitteleuropa
einzigartige Transmissionsanlage, die mit einer Vielzahl von
herabgespannten Lederriemen die Maschinen antreibt. Die Arbeitsgeräusche
und Bewegungsabfolgen werden von den KünstlerInnen live-elektronisch
bearbeitet und dienen als Basis für eine Sound- und Videoperformance.
Durch die Vernetzung von Projektionsgeräten, Klang- und Lichterzeugern
verwandelt sich der Raum zu einer abstrakten virtuell-kinetischen
"Raumbühne".


Das Museum Walzengravieranstalt befindet sich in Guntramsdorf, südlich
von Wien (nähe SCS) und ist leicht über die Südautobahn (A2) und die
Bundesstraße B17 zu erreichen. Vom Zentrum Wiens beträgt die Fahrzeit
ca. 30 min. Mit öffentllichen Verkehrsmitteln ist Guntramsdorf mit der
Badner Bahn zu erreichen. Das Museum ist von der Badner Bahn - Station
ca. 5 min zu Fuß entfernt. Anfahrtsplan hier:

This roll engraving establishment in Guntramsdorf near Vienna is a
perfectly preserved manufacture just as it was at the beginning of the
20th Century, and is unique in western Europe. Founded in 1910 it
operated till 1986. The whole workshop is still complete and in working
order. The central transmission (central drive) on the ceiling still
functions using leather belts to drive the different machines.

The project "Transmission" consists of an installation and a performance
- both in the central room of the former manufactury. During the
performance the machinery - esp. the unique central transmission drive -
will be re-activated as "instruments", both to produce sounds and images
which will be real-time processed by the artists to create a complex
sound- and videoprojection in the space.


The roll engraving establishment is located in Guntramsdorf, south of
Vienna (near the SCS). Access via the Südautobahn (A2) or the
Bundesstrasse B17. Driving time from Vienna center approx. 30 min.
Public transport: Badner Bahn / station: Guntramsdorf. Walking time from
