die reihe: Bohuslav Martinu: La revue de cuisine (Die Küchenrevue) für
Violine, Violoncello, Klarinette, Fagott, Trompete und Klavier
2. Teil:
alien productions and die reihe: Die wohltemperierte Küche

Die wohltemperierte Küche:

Vor den Aufführungen werden Bewohnerinnen der Aufführungsorte gebeten,
Fotos ihrer Küchen einzusenden, die Teil der Kunstaktion werden sollen.

Diese privaten Küchenfotos werden eingescannt und bilden als
Großprojektion das "Bühnenbild" für den Live-Event. Vor der
Projektionswand installieren alien productions auf einer Bühne eine
einfache Küche. Schneidbretter, Kochplatten, Töpfe, Pfannen und diverse
Küchenutensilien bilden das Instrumentarium, mit dem sowohl Speisen
zubereitet als auch Klänge produziert, mikrophoniert und elektronisch
bearbeitet werden.

Die MusikerInnen des Ensembles die reihe bereiten mit diesen alltäglichen
Küchen-Utensilien live ein typisch regionales Menü zu: Krautfleckerln auf
niederösterreichische Art. Die KünstlerInnen von alien productions
reagieren in live-elektronischer Bearbeitung darauf und verweben diese
Samples und Loops der Küchen- und Kochgeräusche zu musikalisch-seriellen
Patterns. Im Anschluss an das Konzert wird das Gekochte gemeinsam mit den
BesucherInnen verzehrt.

2002 startete FLUSS mit nachbar[in] eine neue Ausstellungsreihe mit
Partnern aus Mittel- und Osteuropa. Den Auftakt dieses Kulturaustauschs
bildete 2002 die Ausstellung nachbar[in] - sasiadka, eine Zusammenarbeit
zwischen Polen und Österreich (Ausstellungen in der Galeria Miejska
Arsenal in Poznan (PL), in der Galerie des Österreichischen Kulturforums
Warschau (PL) und im Projektraum-WUK/Wien). Im Herbst 2004 wurden unter
dem Titel nachbar[in] - susedka Austauschausstellungen zwischen der
Slowakei und Österreich realisiert (Dom fotografie in Poprad (SK) und
Schloss Wolkersdorf (NÖ). Zu den Ausstellungen erschienen zweisprachige
Kataloge.

Ein weiterer künstlerischer Austausch mit unseren Nachbarländern wird nun
die Ausstellung nachbar[in] - soused[ka] sein, die anhand ausgewählter
Beispiele Positionen zur aktuellen österreichischen Foto- und Medienkunst
zeigen wird. Diese Ausstellung findet im Rahmen des Monats der Fotografie
und in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Österreichischen Kulturforum Prag in seiner
Galerie statt.

The Well-Tempered Kitchen:

During the preparation of the performance alien productions ask the
inhabitants of the respective city to send photographs of their private
kitchens - to become part of an artistic event.

The photographs are collected, edited as serial sequence and projected as
large scale video-loop - the "backdrop" for the live-event. In front of the
projection-screen: a simple kitchen containing hotplates, cutlery, pots
and frying pans. All these serve as instruments for cooking as well as for
producing sounds.

During the performance the musicians of the ensemble "die reihe" cook a
typical regional menue using only these kitchen devices. The artists of
alien productions feed the cooking sounds into live-electronics thus
creating musical serial patterns. Acoustic cuisine or culinary music leads
to a well-tempered result which is consumed by artists and public together
- during the show by ears and afterwards by teeth and tongues...

Since 2002 FLUSS is organising a series called "nachbar[i]n" (neighbour),
a cultural exchange between neighbours in central and eastern Europe,
which forms an integral part of our programme in the last and oncoming
years. Marking the start of this fledgling exchange was the exhibition
nachbar[i]n - sasiadka in autumn 2002, showing the works of Austrian
artists/groups in Poland (Poznan, Galeria Miejska Arsenal and Warsaw,
Austrian Cultural Forum) and the works of Polish artists in Vienna (WUK).
A bilingual catalogue (German / Polish) completed the mutual excourse
(sasiadka - nachbarin, FLUSS, Wolkersdorf 2002).

Exchange exhibitions between Slovakia and Austria were the next step in
the nachbar[i]n - susedka exhibition series, this time a collaboration
between LUCIA BENICKÁ, director and curator of the DOM FOTOGRAFIE house of
photography in Poprad, and FLUSS, in Aug. 2004. The latest activity within
this series is nachbar[i]n - soused[ka], an exhibition of Austrian
photo-artists in the gallery of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Praha, Cz,
as part of the international "Month of Photography", in Nov. 2005.
