[Grml] Speakup softsynth not talking with grml 1.1 installation

Hm, is there any chance that you provide the output of "cat /proc/cmdline" and
"px auxwww" after booting your problematic harddisk installation?
Maybe it's possible for you to access the box via SSH?

When accessing the box via SSH please try to execute the following commands:

/etc/init.d/speech-dispatcher start
echo sftsyn > /proc/speakup/synth_name
aumix -w 90 -v 90 -p 90 -m 90
nice -n -20 speechd-up

Does this help? (Capturing the output of all the commands would help
us in debugging the problem as well.)
