Im Jahr 1985 proklamierte Donna Haraway
in ihrem bahnbrechenden Essay <em>A
Cyborg Manifesto</em> Cyborgs als die
neue Seinsweise des Menschen. Der Film
porträtiert Haraway und begibt sich
sprunghaft auf verschiedene Fährten
ihres utopisch-feministischen Denkens.
In ihrer Theorie spürt sie Fragen der
menschlichen Beziehungsweisen, der
Koexistenz mit anderen Lebewesen und der
postkapitalistischen (Un-)Ordnung von
Gender-Identitäten nach. Damit verweist
sie auf eine Zukunft voller kühner
Verbindungen zwischen Tier, Mensch und
Maschine, die überkommene Dualitäten
hinter sich lässt. Die von Fabrizio
Terranova gedrehte Doku ist ein rares,
intellektuelles, stilistisch
verspieltes, aber auch
humorvoll-exzentrisches Porträt einerder
originellen Denkerin. Neben ihren
theoretischen Arbeiten werden wir auch
die filmischen Strategien der Doku
diskutieren, denn der Dokumentarfilm war
in den letzten Jahren das Genre, das
sich am stärksten dem utopischen Denken
verpflichtet sah.<br>

Mit körperloser Maschinenstimme fordern
die Borg, das kybernetische Kollektiv,
die vorwiegend menschliche Besatzung der
<i>Enterprise</i> auf, sich zu ergeben.
Das Borg-Kollektiv assimiliert alle
interessanten Lebensformen, es verleibt
sich deren biologische und
technologische Charakteristika und deren
Wissen, aber auch deren Denken, Handeln
und Fühlen ein.<br>

SYNTHESIS</a> richtet den Blick auf
die durch digitale Technologien
verursachten kulturellen,
wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen
Veränderungen – die zunehmende
Allgegenwärtigkeit des Digitalen: unsere
Körper, unser Denken und Handeln wird
durchdrungen von digital gesteuerten
Technologien. Bereitwillig haben wir die
Steuerung an Systeme abgegeben. Die
enormen Infiltrationen und
Veränderungen, die damit einhergehen,
passieren zumeist unbewusst und
unkontrolliert. Alles Sein und Tun wird
in Informationseinheiten zergliedert,
codierbar und damit verwert- und
steuerbar gemacht. <br>

berechenbar zu sein?<br>

In 1985, Donna Haraway proclaimed
cyborgs as the new way of being of man
in her groundbreaking essay <i>A Cyborg
Manifesto</i>. The film portrays
Haraway and jumps on different tracks of
her utopian-feminist thinking. In her
theory she traces questions of human
relationships, coexistence with other
living beings and the post-capitalist
(dis)order of gender identities. In
doing so, she points to a future full of
bold connections between animal, human,
and machine that leaves behind
traditional dualities. The documentary
filmed by Fabrizio Terranova is a rare,
intellectual, stylistically playful, but
also humorous and eccentric portrait of
an original thinker. In addition to her
theoretical works, we will also discuss
the documentary's cinematic strategies,
because in recent years the documentary
film has been the genre most committed
to utopian thinking.<br>

In a disembodied machine voice, the
Borg, the cybernetic collective, ask
the predominantly human crew of the
Enterprise to surrender. The Borg
collective assimilates all life forms
of interest to them, incorporating
their biological and technological
characteristics and knowledge, but
also their thinking, acting and
feeling. <br>
<br>
<a
href="https://esc.mur.at/en/projekt/cyborg-synthesis"
moz-do-not-send="true">CYBORG
SYNTHESIS</a> examines cultural,
economic and social changes induced by
digital technologies. The increasing
omnipresence of digital technology
influences our thinking, our actions
and general being, often unconsciously
and erratically. Cyborg synthesis,
theorises that human behaviour within
this digital era, may be predicted and
thus, controlled.<br>
