Eine robotische Raumorgel – erschaffen aus einer dekonstruierten 
Kirchenorgel, die zu Pfeifenblöcken zusammengefasst wurde – kommt zum 
Einsatz, ebenso wie Automaten-Klavierspieler, die während der 
Ausstellungszeit mit weiteren Klangautomaten ergänzt werden. Winfried 
Ritsch setzt für /Klangautomata/den forschenden, laborhaften Charakter 
seines künstlerischen Ansatzes fort, um im Coderaum /Nebenwelt [NW]/für 
seine /social machines [SM]/, vernetzte Maschinen als loATs (Internet of 
Art Things), autonome Geräte innerhalb eines Netzwerks auszuloten und 
dabei verschiedene /Klangautomata/als loT Kunstwerke zu erproben.

In der dreiteiligen Entwicklungsphase schafft Ritsch mit seinen 
Laborant_innenparalell zur Ausstellung eine /Nebenwelt/. Nach einer 
vertiefenden Einführung in die Möglichkeiten der 
Ausgangssituationentwickeln Ritsch und seine Laborant_innen in der 
zweiten Phase neue Klangautomaten und bereiten die /Nebenwelt/vor, die 
in derImplementierungsphase in eine vom Außenraum des esc mkl 
rezipierbare Form weiterentwickelt und bei der Midissage aktiviert wird. 
In der Zeit zwischen Midissage und Finissage können Besucher_innen die 
/Nebenwelt/im Außenraum des esc mkl erleben.

Zum Art's Birthday am 17. Jänner 2023 schließt /Klangautomata Nebenwelt 
/mit einem Konzert.

Winfried Ritsch (AUT) Künstler und Forscher mit einem Schwerpunkt in 
Medienkunst, speziell Computermusik und Netzkunst. ao. Professor am 
Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik der Kunstuniversität Graz.

*/A robotic space organ - created from a deconstructed church organ that 
has been combined into pipe blocks – is used, as are automaton piano 
players, which are supplemented with further sound automata during the 
exhibition. For /Klangautomata/, Winfried Ritsch continues the 
exploratory, laboratory-like character of his artistic approach in order 
to sound out in the code room /Nebenwelt/[NW] for his social machines 
[SM]*, networked machines as loATs (Internet of Art Things), autonomous 
devices within a network, and in doing so to test various 
/klangautomata/as loT artworks. In a development phase, a secondary 
world will be created parallel to the exhibition, which in a second 
phase will evolve into a form that can be received from the outside of 
the esc mkl and will be concluded with a concert on Art's Birthday on 
17th of January 2023.
