Wir laden Sie sehr herzlich zur Diskussion des Projektes /*Speculative
Capital*//* * /in Kooperation mit dem ELEVATE FESTIVAL 2017 heute am
07.03.2017 von 19:00 - 21.00 Uhr ins *esc* medien kunst labor ein!

Der Künstler Manuel Beltrán und der Wirtschaftswissenschafter und
Philosoph René Mahieu diskutieren gemeinsam mit Reni Hofmüller (esc mkl)
und den Anwesenden über die Zukunft von Arbeit allgemein und die sich
verändernde Rolle des Institute of Human Obsolescence hin zu
“Data-Production-Labor”. (Diskussion in englischer Sprache)

/Wir werden von Maschinen ersetzt. So wie nach der Erfindung der
Dampfmaschine die Arbeitskraft von Pferden nicht mehr gebraucht wurde,
wird nun menschliche Arbeitskraft bald obsolet und durch den Fortschritt
im Bereich künstlicher Intelligenz wird auch geistige Arbeit zukünftig
von Maschinen erledigt werden.

/Auf einem von Maschinen dominierten Arbeitsmarkt müssen wir unsere
Rolle in der Gesellschaft neu positionieren. Das*Institute of Human
Obsolescence *erforscht die Möglichkeiten, mit diesem neuen Arbeitsmarkt
umzugehen, indem es neue Beziehungen zwischen Menschen und Maschinen
sowie neue Dynamiken der Erzeugung von Wert in einem
Post-Arbeit-Szenario entwickelt. Ein menschlicher Körper strahlt 100
Watt Wärmeüberschuss ab. Üblicherweise wird diese Energie verschwendet.
Mittels thermoelektrischer Generatoren wandelt das Institute den
Temperaturunterschied zwischen dem menschlichen Körper und der Umgebung
in verwendbare Energie um. Diese Energie wird einem Computer zugeführt,
der eine Cryptowährung produziert. Um die Menge des produzierten
Kapitals zu maximieren, wird nicht die derzeit wertvollste Cryptowährung
(Bitcoin) gemeint, sondern neuere (Altcoins), die am Markt noch einen
geringeren Wert haben und diesen somit noch deutlich steigern können.
Überflüßig zu werden könnte uns von der Arbeit befreien. Das *Institute
of Human Obsolescence* strebt danach, diesem Übergang den Weg zu bahnen./

zu beteiligen. In Arbeitsschichten von 1, 2 oder 3 Stunden können
Besucher*innen selbst Cryptowährung produzieren.

/Machines are outing us. As some time ago happened to horses after the
invention of the steam engine, humans are becoming obsolete to perform
manual labor, soon, with the advance of artificial intelligence, it will
also affect our possibilities to be useful workers performing
intellectual labor. In a labor market dominated by machines we must
re-position our role in society. The//**//*Institute of Human
Obsolescence*//researches the possibilities of how to cope with a labor
market dominated by machines by developing new relationships between
human and machine and new dynamics of creation of value in a post-work
scenario. /

/A single human body at rest radiates 100 watts of excess heat. Normally
that energy is wasted. Using thermoelectric generators we convert the
temperature differential between the human body and the ambient into
usable electricity. The electricity generated is fed to a computer that
produces cryptocurrency. In order to maximize the amount of capital
produced, instead of mining the currently most valuable cryptocurrency
(Bitcoin) we mine recently created cryptocurrencies (Altcoins) that
still hold a low value in the market, therefore having a potentially big
space for growing in value.

Manuel Beltrán collaborates with economist and philosopher René Mahieu,
on his role as Economist of the Institute of Human Obsolescence. They
give lectures together about the project, discussing the future of labor
and especially on the transition of the Institute towards
Data-Production labor.

project by performing ¨biological labor¨ in working shifts of 1, 2 or 3
hours, the more hours you work the more percentage of cryptocurrency you
obtain. /
