Spectres? Geister, Audrey Samson, CAN

Die kanadische Künstlerin Audrey Samson beschäftigt sich in der
intermedialen Installation Spectres? Geister? mit Trauer. In der
Adaption für die ESC werden mittels FM-Transmittern
Gesprächsmitschnitte lokal über Radios hörbar, und schaffen eine
entspannte Atmosphäre der Reflexion über ein Tabuthema. Reni Hofmüller
und Peter Venus betten diese sehr persönlichen Aussagen in einen Klangraum aus
field recordings ein, der ausschließlich aus freien Sounddatenbanken
aus dem Netz gefüttert wird.

    Mata Hari appears... She is working... She is making money... Not
too much... She is working hard for her money... She has big balls...
cojones... Eier. She gives herself away. She gives everything.
Business is low, but customers are friendly. The phone rings again.
It's not a customer. Mata Hari is mourning and she is angry. She
remembers the battle she once found with you. "b_low the actual" steht
in der Tradition der Genderfuck-Performances und kümmert sich um das
Ei-gentliche: Unabdingbarer Alltag der Sexarbeit und des Aktivismus.
Marty Huber ist Performance-Künstlerin und heterosexuelle Aktivistin. 

Die Installation Spectres? ist eingebettet in die erste Soundscape.

Über das Buch

Das Buch mit 41 Beiträgen von 60 Theoretikerinnen, Künstlerinnen und 
Aktivistinnen (474 Seiten) ist eine Anthologie mit feministischen, 
lesbischen und queeren Positionen, die für einen ?New Feminism? 
eintreten und kämpfen. ?New Feminism? eröffnet die Diskussion an den 
Schnittstellen der gegenwärtigen Veränderungen im Feminismus, indem die 
Akteurinnen nach den Bedingungen innerhalb des globalen Kapitalismus 
fragen, welche Konzepte und Paradigmen in Bezug auf Arbeit, Migration, 
Kapital und Demokratie verändern. Im Buch fragen wir nach einer 
dringenden Einführung von Themen und Agenden in die feministische 
Theorie und Praxis, die gegen Frauenhandel und Migrationsregime 
eintreten und mögliche neue Modelle für ihre Repräsentation und 
Artikulation reflektieren.

?New Feminism? ist ein Begriff, der zunächst eine vereinfachende 
Kontinuität der feministischen Bewegung aufbrechen will und neue 
Handlungsmöglichkeiten und Themen innerhalb der Bewegung einzuführen 
anstrebt. Wenn wir eine neue Genealogie etablieren wollen, ist es 
notwendig, diese außerhalb der bekannten Muster der Übersetzung 
anzusetzen, die von unbekannten Territorien in die renommierte 
internationale Arena verlaufen, wobei unbekannte Räume in vertrautes 
Vokabular übersetzt werden. Wir wollen mit diesem Prozess brechen, und 
fragen jene, die in ihren Räumen engagiert sind, um die Formulierung 
ihres Engagements und ihrer Reflexion. Wir schlagen einen politisch 
motivierten Bruch mit der Geschichte und Gegenwart des Feminismus vor.

Wir wollen die bereits etablierte Mainstream-Geschichte, ihr Vokabular 
und die Herstellung von Bedeutungen im Feminismus in Frage stellen. Die 
Idee war daher, eine ?Deklaration? mit wichtigen Positionen und 
Standpunkten zu präsentieren, die nicht länger als ?geografische 
Extravaganzen? wahrgenommen werden sollten, sondern vielmehr als eine

About the book

The book with 41 contributions by 60 theoreticians, artists, activists 
(474 pages) is an anthology that presents and constructs a configuration 
of acting and fighting for New Feminism by feminists, lesbians and 
queers. New Feminism opens  the discussion on the most internal changes 
of feminism today, asking what are the conditions within global 
capitalism that inform and reshape its concepts, paradigms and 
statements in relation to labor, migration, capital and democracy. 
Claiming that a territory wider than just first world capitalism exists, 
we ask in the book for an urgent introduction into feminist theory and 
practice of questions, topics and agendas that react against wo/men 
trafficking, the forces of migration and bare lives, and reflect on 
possible new mode(l)s of their representation and articulation. New 
Feminism is a term that tries, firstly, to break the simple continuity 
in the feminist movement and, secondly, to re-engage new agencies and 
topics within the movement.

If we are to establish a new genealogy, it has to be done outside the 
known pattern of translation from unknown territories to the well-known 
international arena, from unknown spaces into a known vocabulary. We 
decided to get rid of such a process, asking precisely those who already 
engage in their own spaces to formulate and reflect on this engagement, 
and to speak out. Even more, we asked them not to describe the state of 
things inside to those outside, giving just a "picture" of the 
territory, but rather to propose a politically engaged break with the 
one and only history and present of feminism. We asked them to question 
the already established mainstream history, vocabulary and signifying 
processes of feminism. The idea was to present a "declaration" of very 
important signatures and positions, which should no longer be perceived 
as a geographical extravaganza, but instead as a clear re-politicization
