Due to staff research leave an opportunity exists for a dynamic and
motivated person with proven research abilities and demonstrable
organisational skills to work with the Centre for Tourism and Cultural
Change in managing and delivering its range of research, consultancy and
conference projects. In addition to supporting the CTCC's research team on a
day to day basis, the successful candidate will be expected to take a lead
role in assisting in the organisation of international conferences and
related publications. The researcher will further assist in the organisation
and management of ongoing research programmes and events and contribute to
the preparation of cutting edge research outputs (publications, exhibitions,
visual outputs, etc.). Candidates should have a good Masters degree in
tourism or a related topic, proven research experience and enthusiasm to
further develop the international work of the CTCC.
 
The Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change is an international research and
development organisation pursuing both fundamental and applied research in
the field of tourism studies and theory. Through active research agendas,
conferences, publications, consultancy and development cooperation, and
postgraduate teaching the CTCC aims to create new understandings of the
relation between tourism and culture in a broad sense and develop new tools
for cultural and sustainable development strategies. Through its
international partners, the CTCC animates a global network of excellence
aspiring to promote innovative ways of thinking and practice relating to the
tourism and culture interface, and to work with academics, policy makers and
practitioners to share ideas and best practice.
 
Candidates should have a research Masters degree in tourism or related to
tourism (e.g. in anthropology, sociology, cultural geography etc). A
completed PhD would be desirable. Candidates should have experience in
working on research projects and in project management (relevant
administration and logistics, organisation of conferences, seminars etc.).
The contributing to and developing of funding bids and the ability to
produce published outputs would be desirable. Candidates should have good
organisational and communication skills and be good communicators with
external agencies and be able to work with databases (excel and access),
spreadsheets and websites. Fluency in one or more European languages is
desirable.
