what exactly does the cheat code grml_from_hd does?
Recently I used to choose the "grml-nofb" lilo option for my HD installation booting, but just realized that the "grml_from_hd" cheat code is not there (a HD installation/lilo bug?). would there be any negitive effect about it?

Nothing. It's just an implementation detail within grml2hd. You can either leave it as it is or just drop it.
