glx Problems with fglrx 8.27.10-1 on t60 with grml on HD

Hi!
A kind of a special problem... I installed grml 0.7 on my thinpad t60 (ATI X1400 board) and today I made kinda big upgrade with KDE 3.5.3/4 and xorg. And I updated fglrx to the grml.org version 8.27-10.1. Because I built my own kernel (take grml-config and threw off some unneeded parts) I built the kernel-module of fglrx and installed the fglrx-driver package. Now I rebooted. System is coming up and works. But I don´t have hardware-3d. fgl_glxgears just hits some error: Using GLX_SGIX_pbuffer Major Opcode of failed request: 130 (GLX) Minor Opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent) Serial number of failed request: 35 Current Serial number in output stream: 35
I´m kinda helpless. And yes, xorg.config is the grml.org confed one.
Is anyone using this version with kernel 2.6.17 with success?

Yes it's running here, but I also had this problem without some fixes. Look at:

The method from ati-wiki works fine for me.

So, I installed the experimental packages and rebooted. Now glxgears works for me, very slow, but fgl_glxgears hit the same error. An fglrxinfo tells me: OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX indirect OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.4.2)
As I read this right, I use software 3d rendering. WTF? Why isnt the fglrx-driver used? Any hints?

Have you tried the workarounds from this url? The hint with the old libGL.so.1.2 file worked for me on my hp notebook which has the same graphics card than your t60 I assume. You could give this a try.

Wow. Never thought that could help. But yes, it works! Great, thank you.
