Hi
Whenever I use the command "play" to play a sound file, I will get:
-------------------- Input Filename : /path/sounds/some.wav Sample Size : 8-bits Sample Encoding: unsigned Channels : 1 Sample Rate : 11025 Comments : GoldWave (C) Chris S. Craig, http://www.goldwave.com
Time: 00:00.39 [00:00.00] of 00:00.39 ( 100.0%) Output Buffer: 4.28K --------------------
It's educational at first several times, but is getting more and more annoying now.
Is there any way to turn it off?
thanks

play blah.wav > /dev/null
I use esdplay (Debian Sarge) and it doesn't do this. I don't know if esdplay is in grml. You might also "man play" and see if it has a switch to tell it to run quietly (so to speak).
