I am trying to:
* install grml on a flash drive (usb) using grml2hd * my computer is MacMIni (Intel) * i install RefIt which shows me options to boot from my flash drive
However, it seems like I need to do something about EFI. Do you have any idea about making the flash bootable by EFI (not BIOS)?

On which computer have you booted into grml? I assume you are trying to install grml from a running grml?

Why? How do you come to this conclusion? What is not running?
Can you boot anything else than Mac OSX from refit? Have you tried a GRML live cd?
Do you have any idea about making the flash bootable by EFI (not BIOS)?
I thought your USB device was shown in rEFIt?
