I'd look into fbgrab. just took a picture of me reading a manpage, and that worked, so it should work while installing grml.

Use fbgrab if running grml2hd on plain console.
If using X use either import(1) or the gkrellshoot plugin for gkrellm (I really like the latter one because you can select the region you want to save, if you want too).
