ndiswrapper in grml-small?

Hi,
grml-small contains 'ndiswrapper.sh', which promptly fails because it can't find '/usr/sbin/ndiswrapper'. Is ndiswrapper in grml-small?

No, ndiswrapper isn't shipped with grml-small.
ndiswrapper.sh is part of package grml-scripts. I'm aware of it, that it's not very elegant to ship scripts which don't work on grml-small. On the other side you can install ndiswrapper stuff and have ndiswrapper.sh available as on the big brother of grml-small. grml-small is just a very small part of grml, and you should be aware of it. :)

Hi,
Thanks for the clarification (and for grml itself!). I would like to add ndiswrapper to my grml-small iso image. I see ndiswrapper-modules in the repo - is there a simple way to add it to my iso? Even a pointer to some documentation would be helpful; I couldn't find anything about adding packages to grml on the website or wiki. I did see this section [0] on adding personal files in a separate directory, but is there a better way to add software?

No, there is no *simple* way per se. The one that you found is simple in the sense that it doesn't require you to do more than that.
The proper way is called Remastering, it require you to do much more than that, but I found it not hard at all, comparing with other Live distros:

Thanks for the link - and it refers to a grml wiki page [0] with the same info (actually even more info; The procedure for modifying the squashfs seems be absent from the sourceforge page).

If you use the scripts boot para, this is pretty easy.
Create a directory called scripts in the top of the cdrom, and put a shell script named grml.sh on it.
You can now install packages or other stuff from this shell script. You can also put the .deb itself on the cdrom and just run ,---- | dpkg -i /cdrom/$deb-package.deb `----

Hope this helps. Uli

Thanks (and thanks for your work on grml!). I'm going to try this.

I'm still not sure exactly how to go about doing this. I picked up 'ndiswrapper-modules' from 'grml.org/repos', and it depends on 'ndiswrapper-utils-1.8', which I don't see in the repo. The current (unstable) ndis-utils is 1.23-1.1, which depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.6-6), and it seems that libc6 in grml is 2.3.5. Do I have to dig through snapshot.debian.org to find an ndis-utils that has a lower libc6 dependency, or am I doing something wrong?

The official, last stable release of grml-small is a little bit outdated in the meanwhile, so you are running into dependency hell - right.
Either use grml 0.8 which provides all you need or use a develrelease of grml-small. Develreleases provide up2date packages. Join #grml on IRC to get access to the current, unofficial grml-small ISO (or join http://grml.org/beta-tester/ if you are interested in continuous access to develreleases).
JFYI: I'm planning to publish grml-small 0.3 at the same time when grml 0.9 is available.

Ok, thanks for the help. I'll have to decide what to do (downloading isos is a pain over dialup, which is why I'm playing with grnl-small in the first place).
