1.1 rc1 - a small problem with "bouncing window"...

Hi all -
I'm a first-timer here - just tried grml for the first time, and very impressed! Well done to the devs! :-) ( A bit of background - I'm an intermediate (pushing "advanced")-level user - my PC's been Linux-only for about 4 years or so now. )
I only have one small problem. When I'm running the live-CD, I get an annoying window with a blue border bouncing around the screen - the message in it says "Attention: Input not supported". I can run apps fine, the display is perfectly normal except for that window. Arrgh.... I should say that I have an "AOC" brand LCD screen and it runs fine (except for that window).
Absolutely everything works perfectly except for that one small thing, so has anyone come across that before (and have a way of getting rid of it?). Maybe a boot-option or something..... ?
Very many thanks in advance, and again - well done to the devs for a great distro! Bye for now - - Andy

Can you please grab a screenshot and provide it to us so we get an idea what you are talking about? :)
If you don't know how to grab a screenshot from plain console: just run:
fbgrab -c 1 screeni.png
to capture tty1, if you are talking about X just run 'scrot'.

It sounds like an an "on screen display" of his LCD panel which complains about the screen resolution. Can you try booting with "nofb" or with "fb800x600" and check if the window disappears. If not, check the OSD menu (press some buttons on the screen) if you can disable this message.
Telling us the screen resolution you use normally (and the monitor refresh rates) might help as well.

An OSD window will not appear on any screen shots, I guess. Except one made by a digital camera, of course.

Hi Michael - thanks very much for your help ( and Michael Prokop too - thanks ). I'll try what you've suggested and see how it goes :-) Thanks again - bye for now - - Andy

Hi again all -
Here is a photo (taken by my cellphone camera) of the "bouncing window" that I mentioned. (Sorry for the not-very-good quality of the camera...) I've tried all of the suggestions mentioned, but they unfortunately didn't succeed in getting rid of it.
My screen resolution (found using xdpyinfo) is 1280x1024.

What happens if you run 'xrandr -s 1024x768' inside a xterminal? Does the message disappear then?

So you are in X. Does the same bouncing window appear as well before you switch into X, on the console?
I assume I was right that a screenshot done with 'scrot' did not include the boundy window, and the mouse pointer moves "below" it?
Do you have the model number of your LCD panel handy, so that we can google for the manual and check what causes this message (and what refresh rates it supports)?
Is your monitor connected via VGA or via DVI? A VGA connector has 3 rows of pins as shown on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA, a DVI connector looks like the image on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI. Note that you have to check the cable on the PC end, because on the monitor end some manufacturers use their own, differently connected, plugs.
