The proposed solution has been implemented. grml-users just need to update the according packages via running:

# apt-get update ; apt-get install udev grml-scripts grml-rebuildfstab

Feel free to report any problems you notice.

grml 0.8-1 will include the solution as well, I'll just do some more development before the new ISO is available to grml beta-testers and developers.
