Is this corresponding to what you would like to get?
No, I need the old charset, which, of course, is used by students in Japan using older machines.
Hm, what's the "old charset"? Is it listed in 'dpkg-reconfigure locales'?
Do you mean X or plain console or both together? :)
X
Ok.
Does "modprobe nls_cp932" help?
That was it, thanks - I win the idiot noob of the year award - aargh and apologies
Credits go to Robert 'bobman' Giebel in #grml ;)
Does "apt-cache search xfonts-" bring anything useful for you? Are the packages chdrv, chdrvfont, xcin useful for you?
(Forgot to install xcin on this box - senility sets in....)
Ok :)
Which erros do you get?
Varies, next time I try one, I'll send you the messages. know this is not the purpose of the distro, but, nonetheless, you have made the distro that people like me need to do useful work, so please be patient with us.
np :)
Do you know the "/usr/include/linux does not link to /usr/src/linux/include/linux/" hint from http://wiki.grml.org/doku.php?id=grml_0.7 ?
Done that -first thing I do at install! This is the other reason the distro is so good, the docuementation
:)
Do the packages ttf-junicode, ttf-thryomanes and xfonts-tipa help you?
I use thyromanes as the workaround, because the other people who read the work are most likely to use that - it is the tipa that does not move from either gui charmap to oo. This may be an oo issue, as oo has still one or two quirks with fonts. ;)
Ok
I keep a somewhat accurate collection of the mailing list, but gmane drops things very quickly from their server, so is there a way for us to access the entire set of posts ab initio?

Thanks a million for that. Mika, as always, you are the best.
I'm trying my best. ;)
Greetings from a torrid NYC(I hear Wien is not much cooler)
At least in Graz it's not much cooler. ;)
