Ubuntu going where grml has gone before.
Well, I'm looking forward to see Ubuntu's upstart (see http://people.ubuntu.com/~scott/upstart.pdf) integrated in Debian (Martin F. Krafft is working on it).
Another nice try by Ubuntu is providing dash as /bin/sh: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/dash-as-bin-sh
