Just to be sure, grml can not be installed with grml-debootstrap. You are just installing a normal debian system.
OK. Then let's use grml-full / grml-medium / grml-small just as conceptual names for the following unnamed stacked system:
1. All console tools 2. Xorg + lightweight window manager + essential X tools like gparted 3. Heavy weight desktop system (Gnome/Kde) 4. Occasionally used applications (KOffice/Latex)
of which next layer can be build on top of the previous one. Thanks to Debian live, if you can boot the smallest system, then you can boot stacked systems as well.
