wir laden Sie herzlich zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung/SALAR : EVAPORATION /mit Anna Frizam Freitag, 24.1.2020, ab 17.00 Uhr und zur Klangperformance /The desert is the sea remembering itself /mit Anna Friz ab 18.00 Uhr im Rahmen von Kulturjahr Graz 2020 in das esc medien kunst labor ein!

*SALAR : EVAPORATION*

Im Diskurs über die urbane Zukunft und die immense Rolle, die neue Technologien einnehmen, stellt sich auch die Frage nach den Ressourcen und damit nach den Auswirkungen auf die Natur und die Lebensbedingungen, die der massive Abbau von Rohstoffen wie Kupfer, Lithium und Seltenen Erden mit sich bringt.So werden riesige Halden des Kupfer-Tagebaus oder die giftigen Teiche des Lithium-Abbaus hinterlassen, die manchmal ganze Städte unter sich begraben, in einem Ausmaß Flächen zerstören, die von Satelliten aus sichtbar sind und die die Landschaft für Jahrtausende prägen werden.Â

*SALAR : EVAPORATION*

In the discourse about urban futures and the immense role that new technologies the question of resources arises, and with it the impact that the extraction of raw materials has on the landscape and habitat. Anna Friz, together with Rodrigo Ríos Zunino, researched copper, lithium and rare earth mines in northern Chile.

These miniature technologies with their microcomponents are in the strong contrast to the massive impact on nature and the living conditions in these Extraction zones. This is how remnants such as huge slagheaps from open-cast copper mining or the toxic leave ponds of lithium mining, which sometimes bury whole cities underneath them, and which destroy areas to such an extent that they are visible from satellites and landscape for the coming millennia.
