und ich bin ebenso die Person, die träumte. [Doku Human in Doku The Self]
Doku The Self – Lu Yang
In Doku The Self bezieht sich Lu Yang auf die buddhistische Redewendung Dokusho Dokushi – Wir sterben alleine, wir werden alleine geboren. Davon leitet sich auch der Name der Figur Doku ab, des digitalen Avatars von Lu Yang.
In Lu Yangs Arbeiten verschmelzen
animierte, wilde rhythmische Tanzrevuen von
hybrid-makabren Cyborgs und Mutanten mit den
psychedelisch explosiven Soundmischungen aus Techno,
Death Metal und Oper sowie flackernd gleißenden
Licht-Kompositionen. 1985 in Shanghai geboren, zählt Lu
Yang zu den international einflussreichsten chinesischen
Multimedia-Künstler:innen der Gegenwart. Lu Yangs
Schaffen umfasst 3D-Animationsfilme, Hologramme,
Videospiel-Installationen, Virtual-Reality-Projekte und
grafische Arbeiten.

Doku The Self – Lu Yang
In Doku The Self bezieht sich Lu Yang auf die buddhistische Redewendung Dokusho Dokushi – Wir sterben alleine, wir werden alleine geboren. Davon leitet sich auch der Name der Figur Doku ab, des digitalen Avatars von Lu Yang.
Die
Transformation Dokus in verschiedene Formen –
sechs Inkarnationen – repräsentiert den immerwährenden
Kreislauf von Tod und Wiedergeburt, im Buddhismus und
im Hinduismus Samsara genannt. Doku
existiert jenseits von Sterblichkeit, Schwerkraft und
Sexualität. Doku kann sich immer wieder neu
erfinden, kann jede Phantasiegestalt annehmen, kann
Superwoman und/oder Superman oder ein Fabelwesen sein
und sich dabei jede Art von Schönheit oder
Hässlichkeit aneignen. Dank Computerphysik und
digitaler Simulationstechnologien sind Dokus Verwandlungen
potentiell unendlich.

Doku
The Self - Lu Yang
In Doku The Self, Lu Yang refers to the Buddhist saying Dokusho Dokushi - We die alone, we are born alone. This is also the origin of the name of the character Doku, Lu Yang's digital avatar.
Doku's transformation into different forms – six incarnations - represents the perpetual cycle of death and rebirth, called samsara in Buddhism and Hinduism. Doku exists beyond mortality, gravity and sexuality. Doku can reinvent itself over and over again, can take on any fantasy form, can be Superwoman and/or Superman or a mythical creature, and can acquire any kind of beauty or ugliness. Thanks to computer physics and digital simulation technologies, Doku's transformations are potentially infinite.
In Lu Yang's works, animated, wild rhythmic dance revues of hybrid macabre cyborgs and mutants merge with the psychedelic explosive sound mixtures of techno, death metal and opera, as well as flickering glistening light compositions.
