in Wien und Graz bauen acht MusikerInnen ihre Studios in ihren Wohn- oder Arbeitszimmern auf: kleine elektroakustische Sets und/oder verstärkte Instrumente. Über die Videokonferenzplattfporm Jit.si - eine freie Softwarelösung für Online-Austausch - sind sie miteinander verbunden. Duos und Trios werden nach einem Zufallsprinzip zusammengewürfelt und spielen dann je 10 Minuten lang. Das Konzert wird heute Abend um 20.00 Uhr live auf Radio Helsinki in Graz und Radio Orange in Wien ausgestrahlt und kann auch über die erst kürzlich eingerichtete Videostreamingseite Echoräume mitverfolgt werden.
"Das RadioIronieOrchester, bekannt aus Funk und Klang, ist eine seit 2019 existente radiophile Orchesterstruktur und verbindet akustische, elektroakustische und elektronische Musik mit dem Radio. Die alte Tradition der an Radioanstalten angebundenen Orchester, welche – nicht zuletzt aufgrund fehlender Aufnahmemöglichkeiten – zum Einsatz kamen, wird hier wieder aufgegriffen und so widmet sich das RIO vor allem dem Live-Spiel und der Übertragung."

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Both in Vienna and in Graz, eight musicians set up their studios in their living rooms or home studios, equipped with small electro-acoustic sets or amplified instruments, connected via Jit.si, a free software video conferencing tool. Duos and trios are randomly selected by algorithm, who then perform together for ten minutes each. The concert will be broadcast live tonight via Radio Helsinki in Graz and Radio Orange in Vienna. Additionally, it can be watched at the recently established live video streaming plattform Echoräume.
The performance asks questions about the physical presence in improvised music, the location of the live moment and the simultaneity of the non-simultaneous in digital environments.
"The RadioIronieOrchester, well known from radio and sound, is a radio-phile orchestra structure that has been existing since 2019 and combines acoustic, electro-acoustic and electronic music with the medium radio. The old tradition of orchestras bound to radio stations is revived. Not at least because of the lack of recording possibilities fix orchestras were established in radio stations. Hence the RIO dedicates itself primarily to live-performance and broadcasting."
