Anläßlich des Diagonale Filmfestivals zeigen wir Videoarbeiten von drei international renommierten Künstlerinnen. Vitória Cribb (BRA), Justine Emard (FRA) und Flavia Mazzanti (BRA/ITA/AUT) öffnen spielerische Zugänge in neue visuelle Welten und das Spiel mit Wirklichkeiten – von der Vorzeit über die Gegenwart in den Cyberspace.

VIGILANTE_EXTENDED Vitória Cribb (BRA)
Vigilanz. Aufmerksamkeitsabweichung. Digitale Körper x Digitale Präsenz. Immaterialität x Materialität. Wachsame Avatare beobachten die Bewegungen der anderen im Cyberspace, bleiben ruhig und distanziert und beobachten, wer sie beobachtet und bewundert. Beim Zuhören und Betrachten anderer über Bildschirme nehmen sie verschiedene Formen an. Tipp: Suchen Sie nicht in ihren Augen nach Antworten.
Hyperphantasia, A New Prehistory Justine Emard (FRA)
Von den Tiefen der Höhle bis zu den Tiefen des Gehirns: Im Paläolithikum tauchten die Menschen in die Tiefen und die Dunkelheit der Höhlen ein, um Zeichen des menschlichen Geists auf Felswänden zu hinterlassen. Justine Emard hat ein künstliches neuronales Netz darauf trainiert, anhand einer wissenschaftlichen Datenbank über die Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc-Höhle neue Bilder der Vorgeschichte zu erzeugen. Hyperphantasia schafft einen Raum, der 36.000 Jahre Bildtechnologien umfasst.
NEXUM Flavia Mazzanti (BRA/ITA/AUT)
Raum als „Produkt subjektiver Projektion und Introjektion", als Speicher aller affektiven Empfindungen, als aktives Element im Dialog mit seinen Bewohner:innen. In NEXUM löst sich die Trennung von Subjekt und Objekt zugunsten verflochtener Konfigurationen nahezu vollständig auf. Raum und seine Besucher:innen fluktieren in einem wechselseitigen Zustand gemeinsamen Werdens.

PLAYING ENTITY
On the occasion of the Diagonale Film Festival, we are showing video works by three internationally renowned artists. Vitória Cribb (BRA), Justine Emard (FRA) and Flavia Mazzanti (BRA/ITA/AUT) open up playful approaches to new visual worlds and the play with realities - from prehistoric times to the present and cyberspace.

VIGILANTE_EXTENDED Vitória Cribb (BRA)
Vigilance. Deviation of attention. Digital bodies x digital presence. Immateriality x materiality. Vigilant avatars watch the movements of others in cyberspace, remaining calm and distant, observing who is watching and admiring them. They take on different forms when listening and watching others via screens. Tip: Don't look for answers in their eyes.
Hyperphantasia, A New Prehistory Justine Emard (FRA)
From the depths of the cave to the depths of the brain: in the Palaeolithic, people plunged into the depths and darkness of caves to leave signs of the human spirit on rock faces. Justine Emard has trained an artificial neural network to generate new images of prehistory using a scientific database on the Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc cave. Hyperphantasia creates a space that encompasses 36,000 years of image technologies.
NEXUM Flavia Mazzanti (BRA/ITA/AUT)
Space as a "product of subjective projection and introjection", as a repository of all affective sensations, as an active element in dialogue with its inhabitants. In NEXUM, the separation of subject and object is almost completely dissolved in favour of interwoven configurations. Space and its visitors fluctuate in a reciprocal state of mutual becoming.
